Softlocked myself... help?

Garbage wastes area, the end where you can advance to the next region. Don't have enough food around to save and progress, don't have any way to go back [since the only way out is blocked by hunters - there was a pearl in the room, but for some reason it doesnt stopped respawning after my second death.
Did i accidentally softlocked my game? Is there another way out of this place?
I really do love this game, but i've been stuck in this one place for hours and its really starting to get on my nerves.

There's not enough food there? It is good to know that you can actually sleep once with only 1 food by holding down, so if there is 5 food you can eat four to hibernate normally and save one to force hibernate with, enough to get over to shoreline. I don't know if this is true for the area you're in though.

Another thing that might work is to wait until just before the rain, snag a pearl from the checkpoint when all the scavs are hiding and can't see you and then rush to the shelter to hibernate.

Alternatively, you could use a passage if you have any, or try to take out the scav toll (not recommended).

while being scarce on resources, room B08 allows for multiple ways to acquire food to reach karma level 3 and return back to the shelter for further traversal of the gate
the way back is guarded by blue leeches which do not tolerate any contact with more than 3 of them
notice, blue and bubble fruit reset every 4 cycles or so, if eaten
the popcorn plant can also be reset when consumed
do NOT attack the garbage worm in order to save your stick - they are gonna be much worse enemy than if simply stealing your sticks
although this very room contains 2 (!) additional pearls in order to be able to backtrack west, the general rule still applies: always carry a pearl in your stomach for regurgitation

I knew you could hibarnate without saving, but i did it accidentally and didint know how to force it, thanks so much for the awnser, the idea of stealing pearls never came to me, it's a neat trick for later.

Thank you so much for the awnser and video! I didint know how the popcorn plants worked, since i started the game with zero info on it. Glad to see the community so helpful, that's nice.
