How to swim faster?

I'm stuck in the garbage section and there are these water tunnels I'm trying to get past but I keep drowning before I reach any air pockets. (Not even sure if they are air pockets or just background decor) any advice before I rip my hair out with these sections?

Move in an S formation to swim faster underwater. Don't press or spam jump underwater unless you're swimming on the surface because you will lose breath waay faster, but it does give you a boost.

you can find some bubble weed to have some more time of breathing

Oh god thank you so much. That explains why I was wigging out in the drainage system.

In line with swimming faster (in the broadest sense) I also like to mention the Jetfish — for mostly 1, but 2 areas in total

Whatever you do don't tap jump underwater unless you really really need to boost away from a predator. It uses a bunch of breath. Wiggle when you swim and look for little air pockets at the top like entrances to tunnels that are closed. Also bubble weed is around some places, it doesn't help to have it in both hands at all so just one is fine.

Yes, but if one happens to find 2 plants, you can swallow one for later use ... and don't forget you can stun leeches with it

After countless tries of doing the S movement. I think I'm just gonna avoid water tunnels as much as possible.
