Monk or Survivor?

I face a decision. Keep playing as Monk or restart as Survivor.

I hope to finish the game by Christmas.
Will I miss any important story elements playing as monk? Things that will substantially affect my satisfaction with the ending??

monk is substantially easier (among a LOT of other things, hostile creatures sometimes just completely ignore you unless you prance around right in their face, so you might go for multiple days undisturbed), and some highly spoilery elements (strangely) assume you have played survivor before, which might lead to some confusion.

I'd start a survivor run and see how long it takes to reach the point where you're at now with monk, that should give you a good idea of how viable it is for you. if it turns out to be too hard, just resume the monk run.

The ending isn't really affected in this current version and the story is mostly a mix of lore and speculation, so you will have answers to some things but not everything. There are however indeed story differences and certain things such as creature or lore bits that don't even appear on monk. Monk also can't preform certain moves. Monk is basically Survivor but with more restrictions, which is why I suggest playing Survivor first and Monk if you're struggling too much.
