and if you enjoy hard games, you ought to give http://crawl.develz.org a try. i haven't won it a single time in 20 years but still play it.
I hear in the next update they're adding new cutscenes for the Hunter and Monk, including new endings. However, you should still expect to be confused by them like the rest of the game's story and lore. I'm interested to see what they are.
"This is a hallucinogenic plant. They used to call it a 'Wheel Flower'. It became the symbol for enlightenment, as it momentarily enables a creature to let go of its carnal self, and to contact the selves of other planes—dreams, memories, imagined worlds. Very long ago, they would eat these and stare into the fire."
Either way, there isn't any confirmation or evidence that you see your family in the ending, it really only sort of seems that way because of all the sudden slugcats.
Again, both of what we're saying is not confirmed at all, but through theories and interpretation it is possible to find the most likely answer. Either way, I feel this will be answered in the next update, as I hear that they may add new intros and outros to both hunter and monk, who have the same ending as survivor except with the tree cut out.
Rain World is mysterious as heck, that's all there is to it.
