Fantastic placing for a monster kelp...
So, I decided to go to shaded citadel again to meet the echo there. If you frequent the Rain World discussions, you'll know that I really venturing into the shaded citadel due to the spider swarms. I don't even have arachnophobia...

So, there I was, on the western side of the room where the lantern mouse unlockable is. As I get to the eastern side, I realise that there's already spiderpedes everywhere. FUN. So, I prepare my spear, and I prepare to run luck crazy. I also prepare to die. Then, all of the sudden, GIANTFLIPPINWOBBLYSPIDERTHESIZEOFCTHULHU. I immediately just die inside and sit there to watch the fate of my poor little slugcat. Adrenaline's rushing through me as the creature wobbles around and scares the living heck out of me. Then, I stop for a second and go 'wait, there's no such creature as this in the shaded citadel...' YUPITWASAMONSTERKELP. Another terrifying obstacle. I really don't want to have to deal with it, but I know that I will have to... along with the four massive spiderpedes crawling around it... ;_;

I didn't even know that there were pole plants in shaded citadel, let alone monster kelp.

GOOD NEWS: I made it past the monster kelp and spiderpedes alive. ;w;

... Yeah, that one. I try not to go anywhere near it; fortunately, I've been able to get past it once it grabs a nearby spiderpede (still not entirely sure how to tell the difference between those and a spider swarm). In fact, I'm pretty sure the first time I trekked through this room the monster kelp was already holed up eating something or I would have remembered it for sure.

At least, if you don't want to deal with getting past it there is an alternate route a screen or two below. I still want to finish spelunking down Shaded Citadel sometime (I ate my brightstone just for this purpose), but I'm currently investigating the Shoreline area instead.

Oh. I just threw a rock at it and jumped on it and then over it, running from a couple spiderpedes as it writhed in pain on the ground. ._.

How the actual hell do you get past the one before the memory crypts? And how many spears does it take to kill them?

Another thing to note is that if you are grabed by the kelp you can throw almost anything at it and it will let go of you. This also applies to many of the monsters in this game such as lizards centipedes or even vultures, but the timing window is very small.

You can also reclaim your spear from the kelp as you're swimming past, so you can get by all 3 or 4 kelps with a single spear.

Yes, throwing a rock or spear at a creature as it's grabbed you, assuming you are alive, you can free yourself immediately after being grabbed, but if you wait too long, you drop what you're holding.

Normally I don't find it there anymore because Scavengers frequent the area and kill it.
