Uh... Just keep a light with you. If you see some skwiggling spider looking bunches, run for your life. Because they ain't scared o' light when they're together.

There are glowing plants that might help with them

Yeah you can't see them.....until you see black scribbles all over slugcat. :u

You can get them from a scavenger stash, you know, those secret rooms with tons of spears and bombs. I forgot where it's located in citadel though. Probably somewhere past spiders. lol

Found a merchant that comes before spiders, BUT OMFG SPIDERS ARE SO SCARY HELP ME!

You can kill the spiders with rocks and if you find a glowing plant that's blue instead of orange, that kills all spiders in the room.

ALRIGHT! Prepare for a long explanation on spider behaviour by Yours Truly!
If you rush through a room-full of spiders and stay on high ground they shouldn't be too much of a problem. Remember, the little spiders are only lethal when they form a HUGE SPIDER-CONGA-TRAIN OF DOOM!. They're also scared of light, so use that to try and make them run in opposite directions from each other while rushing through. When the group is big enough to kill you, you'll see large claws sticking out with a "tail" of little spiders.

To counter them:
a) Use a blue light orb found on plants, throw it at a bunch of spiders, and all spiders in the vicinity will get FLASH-FRIED!
b) Throw a rock/spear at them when they form a big group, that should divide/kill a plenty of them.

There are also some other kinds of spiders. But they're fairly distinct and noticeable, even in dark. The brown one (Wolf Spider) is usually chill if you don't provoke it, like a centipede. It hisses loudly and gets out its fangs if it DOES try to kill you. The red one (Spitter Spider, I don't think it appears anywhere other than Hunter Slugcat's hardmode though) spits 2-4 paralyzing stingers at you and then moves in for the kill. Keep your distance and move behind cover and you should be ok.

Hope this will help you get over your fear of spiders and pass the region!
If you don't find the courage, you can reach the Shoreline through the Garbage Wastes region, which is accessed through the Industrial Complex in the water pit spot. There's a detailed region map in Steam Guides section if you need it. But, you'll still need to get through the Shaded Citadel if you intend on advancing through the plot.

Is there an easy way to get to the memory crypts without screeching and crying like a toddler whenever 257 spiders congregate the second I enter a room and devour my soul? I'm awfl at parkour, and the background platforms that don't look like background don't help. I'm always send face-first into a spider pit... I don't care about wolf spiders. One spear, dead. Those flippin' spiders that group together though... I've thrown a flash bomb at them, and 30 more came right back at me and slaughtered me. My purple lizard friend always tries to save me, but the spiders for some reason are VERY scared of the lizard's head light and won't even dare try to touch him. Any suggestions?

It keeps leading me into spider pits of tears and doom, though... Looks like I'll have to go cycle through cycle and farm pearls, get flash bombs, and attempt to make progress. Or find a way to the leg. <->

Also, isn't the tutorial worm actually just Big Sister Moon?

The overseer isn't moon herself, but it does try to get you to help her.

sounds like youre way more unlucky than i the spiders barely gave me any trouble when i meandered through that place not that i was slaughtering them (i love spiders so i was pleased to see them even though i suspected they were going to try and kill me at some point) but they rarely if ever tried to attack me.

no idea either way.

and actualy ive been thinking and there is a way i know of (not to get to the memory cripts ill tell you for free that the only way there is through the citadel) that would allow you to skip the citadel the cripts and more to get were you ultimately whant to get to.
however its convulated potentialy spoiler heavy if youve been no were near a place called the chimney pot stacks and the sky islands and would require a ♥♥♥♥ load of backtracking from the citadel.
so ill only tell you if you give me permission and then ill hit you up with a friend request and tell you privately(mainly because i consider telling new players anything about the game a spoiler)
I really love spiders, too... but not when there's thousands of them clawing at my eyeballs in the darkness. :'D

Also, I'm not trying to get to Five Pebbles or anything, I just want the sandbox unlockables because I love scizzor birds {Miro birds}. :P

I'm going to hate myself when I try to traverse chimney canopy again. I've done it with monk to get to the sky islands where I'm currently stuck, and I know that I'm going to head to sky islands and chimney and some other places with survivor to get the sandbox unlockables with it eventually. Though, I'm currently trying to just complete Shaded Citadel sandbox wise so that I can throw that over my shoulder and forget about it... TwT

Quite uncommon seeing people here who actually like spiders here. I thought I was the only one who wasn't an arachnophobe, as arachnophobia seems common in the rain world community, and everywhere in general.
