Any ideas on what are Memory Crypts for? (story spoilers i guess)

The whole place makes me wonder about its purpose. It is full of briefly ornamented rectangular constructions, so I suppose these boxes are whats called the Memory Crypts.

Are they in charge for storage/processing of some important data or they stand for actual crypts, meaning it is a graveyard or some kind of history monument installation?

I'm pretty sure the purpose of the Memory Crypts aren't mentioned in game. My three tentative suggestions as to what Memory Crypts might be though:
1) archives/libraries of the Citadel before 5P was built directly over it
or 2) could be memory/hardware units than belonged to Moon but were thrown there when her tower collapsed (but due to how orderly this region appears to be, I would say this is unlikely)
or 3) maybe they're part of 5P's hardware.

They are likely a graveyard, i have noticed that the bigger cripts have something inside that glows red

This is Moon's conversation when you give her the pearl you find in Memory Crypts:

So basically the Memory Crypts is a data storage grid that serves as a graveyard where the ancients stored notable memories from their lives that they wanted to be preserved after their deaths.

Also, the crypts have what appear to be corpses in boxes.
So that's an added bonus.
