Dropping items is too finicky.

Keeping it short, for whatever reason dropping items by pressing down+grab rarely works for me.

I was able to acquire 2 white pearls before my first scavenger checkpoint, so I went up and tried to drop both of them nearby.

One of them was dropped but the other stayed in my hand.

When I tried to drop the other I instead stole a spear from a nearby scavenger.

Why, exactly, is death so punishing if unavoidable ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like this happens?

bad controls is a common criticism leveled at this game. The more I play the easier it becomes... though it still feels quite imprecise.

But I didn't even know you could drop items. I thought you could only throw them a great distance.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! You can actually drop items! Thats unreal. That is DEFINATELY something they SHOULD have shown you in some manner of tutorial... at no point was i made aware you could just drop items.

I've thrown away a bunch of spears that landed in walls because i wasn't made aware of this game changing mechanic.

Damn it Videocult... if you made an effort to give a decent tutorial on the movement... this game would have been better recieved, at least by me.

You are not meant to have to drop the pearls at the tolls, you can still throw the pearls, this situation was considered and it is the reason when you throw a pearl it is not like throwing a rock. Unless I got lucky when I did it, you should be able to throw it instead of dropping pearls and not get killed.

I agree they should've introduced that ability properly, I only found out about it after 30 hours of play. As far as I'm concerned, though, it's been reliable - just hold Down before you press grab, and avoid doing so near other objects as I believe grabbing is prioritized over dropping.

That's good to know, but what about when I need to drop a spear? The spears seem especially hard to drop for whatever reason and it's really frustrating to lose a big chunk of progress just because you can't drop your weapon.

You can hold down 'down' then tap shift to drop w/e is in your right hand.

Switch items/hands by double tapping shift.

Oh right, If your right hand is empty, pretty sure it will drop w/e is in your left hand.

Does it grab nearby items if your right hand is empty but your left isn't? I'm trying to figure out now why I grabbed the spear when trying to drop a pearl.

um.. it shouldn't have. Make sure you are still holding down, when pressing shift. Are you on a controller?

also, if you are near the scavs, you can swap the pearl to your right hand and throw it to them.
