Can't we start with the Hibernation chamber open?
Why is it that every time I die I'm forced to watch the chamber open up again? Can't we start with it already open? It seems small, but on some of those really difficult parts where you die 25 times (Unfortunate Development), it starts to grate on the nerves.

Agreed.

It's like those unskippable cutscenes just before a hard bossfight.
Make it skippable would certainly improve our mental health.

Not trolling you here. But it's the game's way of telling you to slow your roll. And try a different approach.

I'm starting to learn this myself with this game, but there's a handful of ways to get past certain parts normally.

But, unfortunately, there are also the cases when the most practical and straight forward route also happens to leave you victim to the AI director sometimes...

No it's not, man. There is not some zen reason behind this one. I appreceate your view on this and I'm as big a fan of the game as you are, but there are a couple rough edges that can still be buffed a bit and forcing the player to watch the 10 second hibernation chamber opening is one of them. Especially in a place like Unfortunate Development where you die a lot and already spend half of your time waiting for the gravity to switch to one way or the other.

I think that if you reach the point where the wakeup sequence grates on you, it might be about time for a break tbh.

Actually, the devs have it in there so that you will actually value your lives more, so in a sense, there is some "zen reason" behind it, whatever the ♥♥♥♥ that means.

Honestly i feel like i would have either died or raged double the amount of times if they didn't have that feature XD plus i'm kiiinda sure some creatures can go into your chamber, but it's rare?

I slept with a Scavanger twice, but it had no spears and I had a good reputation with them. It might be rare because other creatures try to find a shelter for themselves when the rain comes, but if you're being chased and the hunter is close enough, it will go into your chamber before the pipe closes. Never happened to me yet, luckily :p

I also appreciate Leo's point view. These 10 seconds can be a way to reconsider your path and actions. What can you do when you have 10 seconds to wait for the pipe to open? Well, you can eat the food you brought. You can also check what's in your belly in case you've forgotten. And finally, you can take a loot at your map and plan your route.

Of course, if you're in such a situation where you only want to get out and rush and try again and again, I can understand it might seem too long. But, I don't think Rain World is about rushing. I know it seems silly considering there's a timer of death with a Karma penalty in case you fail, and yet, I still strongly believe this game likes your patience.

Ten seconds? That's nothing, honestly. If anything, it helps you blow off some steam. You can throw items on the walls and see your Slugcat being hit because of the bounce, you can jump and roll in a playful manner or just take time to watch this adorable creature :)

I don't think it's about rushing either. Granted there are a few paths where it can actually eat the living ♥♥♥♥ out of your time, and the shelter could be miles away.

But in my experience so far, I've rarely raced against time. I hardly ever had the screen shake as the rain came in. Simply because I didn't mind taking my sweet time. The Shelters appear frequently enough, and food isn't too hard to come by if you know where to look.

The dev also made it particularly easy to guess where a Shelter may actually be without your guide helping, by simply paying attention to the map's design. Normally what the Dev does is if there is ever a lot of food in a single area, it usually means there's a shelter in one, two or three rooms near you. It wouldn't hurt to scout it out.

I always save at the first shelter I see after leaving the previous one. If I have more time in the day, I spend it grabbing as much food as possible and shoving it inside the shelter. Bats I just give them a little love bite and they will not despawn inside the shelter. Same for small centipeedes. If I have the time, and don't mind chancing it, I will kill the larger ones and drag them into the shelter, as they also count for food.

Yeah, the part last night driving me nuts was this one stretch of hallway in Unfortunate Development just south of the Memory Conflux rooms. I had to head back up the hallway I just came down, (because I hibernated there) but died for literally 2 hours straight.

Worse yet, each attempt at getting through the hallway only lasted 3-4 minutes so I was seeing that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ opening sequence over and over. I just wanted another chance at the hallway as quick as possible, but was getting annoyed that I kept having to wait. Plus with the situation with the gravity being what it was, I was already spending time waiting and was going bonkers.

So I did what Blennox suggeted and just put the game down for the night. I'm about to give it another try so wish me luck.

Edit: Annnnd, I made it on the first try...
