*garbage worms also don't like you getting too close to the base of their bodies, so if you rush by them, they will often recoil and fail to disarm you
*you can store any small non-edible items in your gullet for later, including non-edible plants, some foods which require preparation to become edible, rocks, pearls and some smaller (and less fortunate) creatures
*you will only begin hibernating after entering the main chamber of a rain shelter, so you can (depending on the shelter's orientation) toss food into the shelter and then leave (allowing you to stockpile lots of food in one cycle)
*fruit starts regrowing when you pick it, not when you eat it. So, if you'll be in an area for a while, try to always harvest and stockpile any available fruit to get the most out of the nearby plant life
*if you want to use a spear to make a handhold, one of the easiest ways to make it work is by jumping into the wall and THEN throwing the spear. the proximity reduces the possibility of the spear bouncing off, and it will almost always end up at the right height on the wall (assuming you don't wait too long to stab the wall). Sometimes you can even stick the spear in and immediately climb up it
*A backflip does not increase your jump height. It moves your hitbox. However this can get you to slightly out of reach places. And most importantly, allow you to jump over persuers when normally they can snag you out of the air.
*slug cat's stance and facing determines his speed. When in a tunnel, it's generaly worth it to spend half a second to try and turn around if you can afford the time. The speed gain in the long run can be the difference between life or death.
