Why no 720p resolution?
Those of us with 1440p or 4k monitors are left out in the rain (haha) here. Why?

The game's engine is limited to a certain resolution. Arguably, making the resolution higher would change the game's aesthetic because it was made in a certain res.

That's just what I think though. You should wait for a dev response.

We've had a few requests and I think this will be an easy fix once we get the time for it!

The key here is to use the 16:9 resolution, which cryptically, is 1366×768 (I suppose they wanted to be tricky in all things with this game, including picking resolution ;-D ). Considering that this is a pixel art game, it doesn't really matter which reso you pick so long as it fits your screen properly.

Ideally you want to scale pixels by integer factors; so a 1×1 pixel becomes 2×2, or 3×3, etc.

With pixel art games resolution isn't that important. I like me some crisp, chunky pixels on my 1080p monitor
here are some pictures for comparison. i use Reshade https://reshade.me/
i still fiddle with the lift gamma gain settings but the images look way better with reshade, no matter how you set it.

I guess it's really a matter of preference. It looks kind of oversaturated to me. The world is supposed to be drab and decayed. Resahde makes to colors pop too much for my tastes.
well one can leave out the color part and just use the sharpen effects ;)
here is a srceenshot with only clarity / finesharp / highpasssharp

Yeah, a 720p 2x-nearest-neighbour-scaling mode would be great for 1440p monitors... I really dislike the look of filtering... the game looks so much better with crisp, native pixels visible. I've gone so far as to switch my desktop into 1366x768, and then disable scaling so that the game effectively runs in a window with black everywhere else... then sit very close to the monitor :-P

I wonder how much it would affect the composition to run at 720p instead of 768p... I guess a lot of screen transitions are sort of hard-coded to happen at 768p screen limits?

720p would also work with clean pixel-doubling(trebling) on 4k screens.

Does Rain World use OpenGL or DX9?

Heh, yeah, crisp and clean is good, over-cranked post processing filters, less so :-)
