Vulture Masks

Do they exactly do anything? At some point in the game, I was on the surface with some friendly/neutral Scavengers, a couple lizards and two vultures all having a nasty showdown. One of the vultures landed to attempt to attack something, the scavengers then used this opportunity to spear the bird. They actually managed to kill it, and afterwards I took the mask from the bird. I didn't notice much change, but I heard that they scare off (some?) enemies.

They scare off lizards, i'm not sure if it's all the colors or not. They also frighten Scavengers, but I think they'll still follow you if you wear the mask

I did some experimenting, and did notice that most lizards were significantly less aggressive. I was killed by a blue lizard at some point, who attempted to avoid me at first but after persisting after it, it managed to quickly kill me, and scavengers (befriended before) seemed to be more timid.

In particular, green lizards seem to not have much problem with the mask. They won't dive right at you, but they will stalk you on occasion, and they'll usually bite you if they get close enough. Most of the other lizards I've seen flee from the mask, even going so far as to run past me, or letting me squirm by in tight areas without even trying to bite me. It also may or may not enrage other vultures.

Yeah I noticed green lizards didn't care as much. As for other vultures, I got killed by one on one occassion right after I dragged a dead lizard body out for it, it went for me instead.

After i killed a few vultures and realized i could take the mask, i did, and went to hibernate. I ventured out afterwards with the mask and was attacked by a few vultures repeatedly. idk if it was just a coincidence, but they might be more aggressive when you have one of the masks.

I'm not sure about that, but if it is at least a bit interesting, a maskless vulture will remember you and even follow you throughout several cycles. It's not always likely to happen, however, as usually Masked vultures will attack Maskless vultures if they're near the ground.

unmasked vultures will be attacked by masked vulture.

spoiler there are speculation that the mask is the identity of a vultre /spoiler

also lizard will run from you especially white lizards.

you can trade mask with the Scavenger, just drop it to the ground
