I'm also currently stuck in the Underhang lol. The only issue is the food isn't always there the next day, so getting to the highest karma is very difficult.
Yeah it can be an issue to find food, but if you've found the shelter I was referring to, there's at least 4 pieces of orange jelly and I think three berries that you can get in the passageway to the karma door. And a few of these will respawn after a couple of cycles. And there are a few patches of berries and jelly dotted around.
Or worse yet, when they squeeze themselves through an exit and just sit in a hallway.
Maybe it would be cool if you threw an object away from you if they would go investigate?
Regarding the blue tentacle horrors blocking exits... keep an eye out for spears lying around and create a collection of two or three in a neighbouring room... then pop through and spear him, go back for the next, etc... they soon get sulky once they've got a few pointy sticks in their tentacles (or head if you're lucky)
Either that, or get an orange lizard to chase you, pipe to the blue guy, pipe back as the lizard follows you, and voila, one less lizard and a blue horror busy eating for a moment :-)
It was suggested that maybe if he hadn't ate Moon-neurons... but I didn't in my playthrough, and still didn't see anything. Perhaps they did patch in a little extra signposting - it really was one of the few hibernation spots that was in the last place you'd think to look when you were in a hurry - when the rain's coming and you're desperately seeking safety, the last thing on your mind is "hmm, I wonder what's hidden waaay down at the bottom of this bottomless abyss of doom, which I'll almost certainly misjudge and fall into" :-P
