Hel in underhang
Help.. I'm in the underhang.. but on base karma.. dont know where to go. I can find a gate but it need the highest level of karma. Check almoust everypath and no safezone there, died like many times.. Such a fun game. I think that my progress is based on luck.

Underhang is a bit of a bastard but you do need to get past that gate. I'd recommend you camp out in a shelter below the long hall leading to the gate (it's in the bottom right hand corner of that section). Once you find the shelter, just keep going out, eating berries and the orange jelly stuff and hibernating until you get back up to the 5th karma stage.

I'm also currently stuck in the Underhang lol. The only issue is the food isn't always there the next day, so getting to the highest karma is very difficult.

Yeah it can be an issue to find food, but if you've found the shelter I was referring to, there's at least 4 pieces of orange jelly and I think three berries that you can get in the passageway to the karma door. And a few of these will respawn after a couple of cycles. And there are a few patches of berries and jelly dotted around.

The orange goo (i like to call it honey while it''s ovious it isn't :D) respawns pretty fast. I was lost at exactly that point, too, until some very nice person pointed me to THAT shelter. Farming karma from there is pretty easy, i did not need to cross any enemy doing this.

To be honest, I kind of fell like Underhang can use a little bit of tweeking. Those dumb ass tentacle beasts are FAR too prone to just chilling out and blocking the passage way. Or when they know you're in a pipe, I've had them sit there and fail to get me for 5 minutes once. They should behave a little bit more like the buzzards and give up once and a while.

Or worse yet, when they squeeze themselves through an exit and just sit in a hallway.

Maybe it would be cool if you threw an object away from you if they would go investigate?

See, this grinding is so unnatural and really shows how needlessly annoying the ranking system is.

I found there was a pretty huge abundance of food once I was familiar with the place. Even discounting the occasional bat, there's maybe 10-15 orange goo spots around, and 5-6 blue fruits. It took me no time at all to rest up from zero to full karma... and once you do, the gate is easy to reach as there's no enemies on the way there.

Regarding the blue tentacle horrors blocking exits... keep an eye out for spears lying around and create a collection of two or three in a neighbouring room... then pop through and spear him, go back for the next, etc... they soon get sulky once they've got a few pointy sticks in their tentacles (or head if you're lucky)
Either that, or get an orange lizard to chase you, pipe to the blue guy, pipe back as the lizard follows you, and voila, one less lizard and a blue horror busy eating for a moment :-)

I do agree that the saferoom really needs some better signposting when you first arrive in the area. Not sure why yellow-clippy-guy decides to disappear around there, but he really could do with turning up again.

Isn't there a white sign with the "shelter" icon painted on the screen above? Or was that added in a later patch?

Hmm, was pretty sure there wasn't back then, and looked at an old lets-play to check, and couldn't see any signposting there either. A comment on that video mentions the same thing though, not much longer after the video was posted... perhaps there's some sequence of events that causes it to appear that I failed to do.
It was suggested that maybe if he hadn't ate Moon-neurons... but I didn't in my playthrough, and still didn't see anything. Perhaps they did patch in a little extra signposting - it really was one of the few hibernation spots that was in the last place you'd think to look when you were in a hurry - when the rain's coming and you're desperately seeking safety, the last thing on your mind is "hmm, I wonder what's hidden waaay down at the bottom of this bottomless abyss of doom, which I'll almost certainly misjudge and fall into" :-P

hey! so i had a stupid experiance with the underhang it self however its something completly diffrent to what youre talking about
(i found the shelter after bumblekinging about without guidance) you see i didnt get stuck there (i got used to the jelly spiders with remarkable ease) but it never occured to me to inspect the hall way in the second floor of the shaft properly.
i assumed that going forward would take me to you know where that id heard about on the web and just kept going and going intill i reached the wall.
and spent hours and hours scaling it and trying to get into the back door of you know where i even whent over to the freaking sky islands and dragged a fly over and still couldnt get in.
so i evenchualy gave up and did some research to discover that the bloody gate i was looking for was practicly poking me in the eye and let me tell you when i discovered that i was absoutley furious i did go and do it but i had to take an hours break from the game first.
You managed to negotiate that last section from the underhang through to the wall? With grapple-worms? That's a pretty significant achievement in itself :-P
