Random generated levels?
I just found this game from a youtuber I watch and fell in love with it! :tobdog: But is the levels random generated or is it the same level on every playtrough? :2016trophy:

The whole world is procedurally generated, but the creatures are not (they go wherever they please)

The world is always the same thing, 1600+ room metroidvania, not procedurally generated. The individual enemies are all unique, but are divided into different species.

And according to the KS page, there will be different game modes like survival, etc and eventual co-op and vs modes so I'm confident we're sure to get our money's worth on this one :)
Thanks for all the answears! I will defently buy this game :) :2016watermelon:
The levels are not randomly generated nor are the creatures. However the location of the creatures and food changes with each day. As a result you get some awesome emergant gameplay when different creatures interact, attacking each other or running away. :)

Um, the creatures are all unique, like I said. They are divided into different species, and each individual has been procedurally generated for that playthrough or otherwise....

I see what you mean, I think we're just arguing definitions here. The species are made by design, not by procedural generation. However the location of all the different creatures are procedurally placed based on each cycle. The animations of all the creatures are procedural however.

EDIT - On second thoughts you're probably refering to the stats of each individual creature. Yes you're right, those stats are procedurally generated. Some crocodiles are good at climbing, others are fast, you can usually tell by their colour.

We are disagreeing because you were wrong. It is not very difficult to just look up this stuff yourself. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rain-world/project-rain-world/posts/1183701

This individuality; behaviour, size, and aesthetic detail, are all different for every single creature in the game, every single time. So again, the creatures are divided up into different species, and each of those creatures are procedurally generated. And that article mainly talks about the lizards, but it is applied to a different extent to every creature entity.

Woa, @Llywelyn, you're actually playing RainWorld!?!?! Awesome :)
Thank you Blackenblood, I stand corrected. I did try looking it up, I couldn't find a reference to procedural creatures anywhere, evidently I didn't look hard enough. :)

Sorry if I sounded a bit hostile, lack of this game is getting to me.
No worries man, I was lucky enough to get a press copy, but trust me it's well worth the wait. :)

so when a creature dies does another one respawn? what I mean is there a set amount of creatures in the world and can they become extinct?

I don't think creatures can become extinct. From my experience creatures are persistent within a cycle or day, but once you hibertate new ones are spawned.

This is a liiiittle bit of a spoiler, but when you kill a creature what happens is that it opens opens up that creatures den, which can allow some other creature can move into it. Sometimes it'll just be another creature of the same species, but if you kill more and more of them the likelihood that more dangerous (and sometimes even secret) creatures will move in gets higher and higher
