Per Shards,

"You can download it from the community crate in the top-right in the main menu.

Once downloaded, please go to Documents\My Games\Order of Battle - WW2\Campaigns\3d infantry and unzip the file there into the same folder.

You should see something similar to the attached image.

Then just restart the game and select SINGLE PLAYER, then hit the Custom Content button on the bottom-left of the window that opens. You'll find the new campaign in that list."

or you can get it from:

hope you enjoy!

I guess Steam removed the link -- here's another way. Hopefully it'll let me link to my very short list of campaigns...

I don't get a Custom Content button. Everything else worked to that point.

I would check the directory. It is possible there is a subdirectory under the 3d Infantry foldet that is causing the problem.

Kaplan that did it. There was a 2nd 3rd infantry subfolder:steamhappy:

dkeith,
Great, please keep me posted! Some people had some weird issues with the second (battle) scenario, Licata (Sicily) but glad you made it through it.
Good luck with San Fratello and Brolo- let me know how it goes!

thanks again,

I love this campaign. The historical timeline plus smart explanations of how the division is broken down into regiments and smaller units is brilliant. I wish the base game and paid DLC did this as well. Question though: I just lost the San Fratello and Brolo because it didn't give me credit for killing all of the fleeing troops. The number of troops killed actually went down several times, and although I wiped the enemy off the map and completed all the secondaries, it was impossible to meet the requirement of 33 fleeing troops killed. After about 24, no matter how many more I killed, the number wouldn't go up. By turn 36, there was no enemy left. DId I do something wrong, or miss a specific detail on how to trigger this, or did something not work quite right? I did see a handful that said "fleeing German" in the description, but nowhere near 33. Some of the ones that didn't display that I got credit for, but not some others. I just want to know what to look for before I try it again.

Thanks

JP, thanks for the compliment and thanks for playing!

The Mission Objectives statement for "Ground Units: >33 casualties on fleeing Germans":
"Ground units must inflict >33 casualties on German transport units. Use the naval gunfire to protect the US landing forces.
!No credit for damage done to enemy by air or naval gunfire!
Must be completed within 8 turns after landings."

So, you have 8 turns to inflict a total point loss of 34 on the German Transport units from the time the pop-up appears, and the only ones that count are German Transport Units killed by ground forces (artillery, infantry, armor; from the Bernard Force or the Division main force arriving from the west). Bear in mind, it does not say, wipe 33 units off the map, just inflict 33 casualties on the fleeing units -- that's what the Bernard force is supposed to do, create panic in the German rear and deal destruction to the units trying to retreat.

There are two retreating infantry trucks, one horse-drawn cart, and one SKFDZ truck, or a possible 40 total retreating points to inflict. All of units say they are "Retreating" in the unit identifier. If one gets by, you have time to run them down with armor.

So block the roads with the Bernard Force and hit the Transports in 8 Turns that you can with ground fires (infantry, arty, armor, recon (if recon is in range to help)). You can overtake them with 3d Division main body units, as well.

I cannot imagine why your counter went retrograde and started removing points from the damage done. The trigger can't work that way -- that's a total bafflement to me!

San Fratello is the most complex scenario in the campaign. But it is not the most difficult!

Please keep me posted on your progress. If you get in a jam, send me a replay on the conboy's campaigns thread -- http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=374&t=102239 .

Thanks again for the compliment and thanks for playing!

Thanks for writing back, you've done a great job with this campaign. I misinterpreted "casualties" to mean "kills," so that definitely makes more sense. In addition to ground forces, I may have used P-38's as well (can't remember), so that could explain why sometimes it counted and sometimes not. Is it possible the number went down because they healed themselves between turns?

You know, now that I think about it, I am playing it on the Easy setting (because I suck). Enemy units all start out with a "6" for health. So if there are only 4 retreating units to attack, wouldn't it only be possible to get 24 total casualties? The total number I ended the game with was exactly 24/40.

Uh-oh!
Yes, if you're playing on level 1, that would do the scenario in. Level 2 as well because it would only give 32 to shoot at and you need 34 casualties.

(Correction, on Level 1 it spawns 50 points of fleeing German units to shoot at. There is probably an occasional error with one of the associated triggers that I can't find!)

You will encounter the same issue in Operation Dragoon scenario.

I better talk to the scenario design moderators and Shards about this!

I hope you continue playing and thank you very much again for helping identify a shortcoming.

Well, I feel better knowing there's nothing different I could have done. I definitely understand the scenario better for next time too, so I'm sure I can get through it on level 3. Thanks for the heads-up on Operation Dragoon too, I'll keep that in mind when I get to it.

I'll definitely keep playing, and I'm glad I could help. Keep up the great work!

The 1st time I played through I destroyed some of the fleeing units with naval gunfire and did not get the required points. I do love this campaign.

Yeah, I overlooked that detail in the instructions as well, although it didn't matter in the end. This campaign is definitely awesome.

I do feel you might have been over generous with the command points, I didn't even use all of them. level 4.
