i have finished the sandstorm and the us pacific and i just want to experiment and rampage through the map. i found many codes online but one i am missing is the one for unit experience. does anyone have the command to increase unit XP?

I do not think there is one. These are the codes I know work:

#johnconnor disable AI
#iamback enable AI
#orbitalcommand disable fog of war (for the AI as well)
#igotnukes instant (major) victory
#whiteflag instant defeat
#warbonds +-X + or - X resources (applies to all human-controlled factions)
#income +-X + or - X income per turn (applies to all human-controlled factions)
#overtime X extra turns (added after current turn ends)
#landcp X more Land Command Points
#navalcp X more Naval Command Points
#aircp X more Air Command Points
#epiphany X more Specialisation Points
#stimpack X with a unit in focus, adjust its strength to value X with a maximum of 20 (adjusted after current turn ends)
#shockandawe unlocks the gorgeous commander Lieutenant Lena, who is not just eye candy (adds 100 shock capability to her assigned unit)
#gimmeall (works with the game's main menu screen in view; may take a few seconds to complete)
unlocks all purchased DLC scenarios for individual play, even if preceding missions in the campaign are not yet completed
#videomode on / #videomode off turns the UI display off or back on again (#videomode on means the UI display is off, and vice versa)
#instakill / #instakill off kill a unit with a single shot

What you can do which is very easy is use the editor to place 20 or so 3-5 star units of whatever classes you want in the first scenario

If you're prepared to spend a little time editing it's quite fun to add some side missions to rescue elite forces cut off in a far corner and low on supplies, which then become part of your core units if rescued in time

For infantry you can use engineers, in a safe area, OS them to 20 (#stimpack 20) then place mine field and remove it the next turn. You will need to give yourself RP as it costs to place the mines. Each 20 str mine field nets you 600 experience. You can get them to 10000 exp in a couple battles, then upgrade them to what type of infantry you would like. Ships are harder in that the only one you can do this with is support ships which only are promote as cruisers. Everything else you cannot do this with.

On the subject of cheats, is that possible in multiplayer? Because ages ago I could swear I had a really weird game against some guy using submarines immune to sonar. He claimed it was because they weren't moving and since I had only started I shrugged it off, but now I wonder.

There are no cheats that involve submarines, nor are there any cheats that work in multiplayer. He may have been using a 3rd party script to do that. Does not matter if a sub has moved or not if the DD is in sonar range you find them.

Actually, you can only detect submerged submarines which have moved with sonar. So hardy_conrad's opponent was correct.

Ah I've heard contradictory stuff with respect to subs. But overall it's very difficult to justify buying them, one of those units you only use if they're already present under your command.

Subs for me are to gimmiky They can only stay submerged 3 turns then have to surface. At which time they are easy to kill. Only time I have added them to my core was to get the 5 star achievement. Then it was Japanese Subs and they ran on the surface most of the scenario with several Zeros covering them.

I agree with you guys subs being pretty much a waste in OoB. If the game had some sort of a critical hit mechanics (like in the venerable Pacific General), subs could be useful.

I have 3 major naval campaigns (30+ scenarios each so far) and its hard work to find work for subs in them, you have to tailor the scenario to suit subs to get any use out of them
Adding cargo space, giving glass cannon status, extra movement can all help but basically it's still quite a niche unit
But then again at least half the ground units in the game could have the same thing said about them unless you mod them

How do you input the cheats?

Press shift-ctrl-alt-c at same time, a window opens and you type the codes there. Codes are specific best way to do them is copy and paste. The codes with an X in them IE #warbonds +-X use a real number in place of the X. If you wanted to add 500 RP you would enter #warbonds 500. If you add an extra space between the #warbonds 500 it will not work. Same thing adding CP if you try #landcp 10 you will add 10 land CP. If you type #landcp 10 you will add 1 land CP.

Erik made a naval mod which slightly buffs subs, so I thought that was good. There's also a custom scenario called "The War In The Pacific" which because of its length and scale actually allows for a degree of submarine utility. Sadly that is very much the exception to the rule. I blame Das Boot for making me a fan, heh.

I could swear I had a submerged sub not moving and it STILL got squished, but this was a long time ago so I might be remembering incorrectly.

If an enemy vessel tries to move into the hex your sub is occupying, the sub will be revealed and often gets squished. Maybe that's what happened back then.
