D-Day How to add New Units?
Greetings

Im trying to do a review of Allies Victorious but cant get past D-Day.

My first time out I selected Custom Units, so I didnt have any units in landing crafts. I built the units via Purchase screen but I was unable to deploy any of them except for British fighters and bombers. Wasnt able to deploy land units even with amphibious transports.

Then I restarted the scenario chose standard not custom units, I did get the base units on the map but wasnt able to add anymore from England or the 3 UP arrows (assuming deployment area) on the top left of the screen.

Any advice?

Were you able to deploy any land units (of any nationality)? The deployment hexes are next to the ships, close to shore. I just re-launched the campaign and was able to deploy units of all (US, UK, Canada) nationalities using either the default or custom units options up to the CP limit of each nationality.

Ok went in and looked at the D Day setup. You must not have a saved core to import. If you get choice to use a custom core it allows you to buy units and deploy them. ALL the deployment hexes are near the beaches. The ENGLAND as you are referring to it is a airbase so you can embark paratroops. To deploy units you first buy them, You can choose to buy or buy and deploy, If you choose buy you then select the unit in the force bar, once you have it selected ALL the legal hexes it can deploy will highlight. Choose one and place it. then repeat until you are out of CP. You may find it easier to work one country at a time, buy then deploy. The 2 up arrows you refer to are for exiting badly damaged ships. If you do not choose the custom core option it has ALL the landing troops on ships ready to go. If you buy other troops you cannot put them in England unless they are a paratroop, or air units,

I am guessing you are new to the game. This is one of the hardest 1st scenario in the game.
You need to have a good understanding of the system. The invasion mechanics are not hard to grasp but take some time to master. You have Supply ships (there are more than enough to supply your landing BUT they must be next to a beach to do so.

Each ship can supply 20 CP of troops. so as you head to the beach make sure you get those supply ships headed in as well, If they get damaged the amount of supply goes down. Use your naval units to blast enemy Naval guns. Surface ships can also supply a limited amount of CP but Battleships, and Heavy Cruisers cannot enter shallow water. You have one construction unit . It will build an airfield once you get it ashore. You also get one support ship it is a mine layer/sweeper and also can repair damage to other ships.

Not sure what level you are playing on but you may want to turn it down to the easiest and play the scenario, Then once you get a feel for it you can restart on a higher difficulty. Good Luck.

I tried custom setup and you lose the Airborne units near bridge and cant buy them in flight.

You place any airborne on the airbase at top right of screen. Then embark said unit on the planes, it is the airplane icon on the control panel. At this point you can click on the unit and move the unit to another deployment hex. I do not think it allows them to be where the units in the regular set up are. But you can deploy them close. Once you have done this with your first airborne rinse and repeat. HOWEVER it costs 10 RP's each time you embark an airborne unit so it is not free.
