Important Update for Mac Users
We are ending support for the Mac version of Order of Battle at the end of 2020.

How it’s going to work:
- We will be releasing an update to the game before the end of 2020. This will be the final patch update for the Mac version of Order of Battle.
- You will retain access to any DLC you already own, and you will continue to be able to purchase any of the currently available DLC should you wish.
- Future DLC campaigns will not be released for the Mac version of the game.
- You will continue to have access to the PBEM servers, but will not be able to play against anyone who uses a Future version of the game. We will make a legacy PC version available so that players can continue to play against their friends on PC if they wish.

Unfortunately, the effort required to keep the game up-to-date for the very small community of Mac users is just not sustainable anymore for the team.

Please reply to this thread for any questions you may have.

I hope you reconsider. This is really disappointing and punishes users who've stuck with Order of Battle. We're stuck with an incomplete game, as I assume there are additional European DLC planned. Thanks for ditching us, we'll be ditching you as well.

It's dissapointing, there seems to be a trend of games either dropping Mac support or new games being released without it (from devs/publishers that previously suppoted the Mac).

To the dev's/publisher: Perhaps there is a compromise/work around, for instance GeForce Now (which I currently use for PC only games to run on my Mac). It's possible to submit your game to make it available on the service right from Steam, details here: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/features/cloudgaming

You better give a huge discount on all DLC for Mac users, right now!

Really, really sad news guys. I have over 1,100 hours on this fantastic game and have purchased all of the DLC. As a Mac user (not by choice btw it is our company required platform) it has always been a struggle to find quality games on the MacOs platform, so this is a black day for Slitherine as far as I'm concerned. My only request is that Slitherine make Order of Battle available to NVIDIA GeForce Now so that I can play the Windows game via that platform. Yes, I can run Windows over the MacOS via bootcamp, but that's never an ideal solution. Is there any chance that you might change your minds on this for your loyal longstanding Mac customers?

This is really disappointing. I hope you'll reconsider. It feels a bit a betrayal for Mac gamers who followed every DLC you dripped in over time.

We do love our Mac users, but we're just not in a place where we can keep up development on the platform.

However, thanks to the suggestions above, we are going to investigate getting the game to be available on GeForce Now. I can't commit to anything at the moment, but it's an interesting angle.

Thanks,

Thanks for your response Shards. GeForce Now would at least offer an alternative way to continue playing the game and any future expansions.

No, Please. I beg you. I have 9784.1 hours in this game. That is almost TEN THOUSAND HOURS! I LOVE IT. I am a true believer. Is the Mac community that small really? What can I do to keep you in our camp. Money? Flattery? How many Mac users do I have to buy OoB for Xmas?

Disappointing, but I agree with the rationale. Apple's really shot themselves in the foot in a few respects, and it's unreasonable to demand that a company continues to sink a great deal of man-hours into a product that almost nobody will use.

I'm a big fan of OOB. I'll just play it on my Windows partition instead. NBD.

Just set up a partition for playing PC games, or use an emulator like PlayOnMac, I used to use it for Panzer Corps.

I really hope you reconsider, even if it's months down the line before it's released. This is one of my favourite games - I loved seeing it expand from just the Pacific to the whole world war, and have enjoyed the focus on different theatres/perspectives. It's a shame to not be able to see the whole thing through. Kind of like only watching two of the lord of the rings!
