I was able to play the first mission for Order of Battle: Red Star already
I was lucky enough to be able to play the first mission on the Beta Version of Order of Battle: Red Star when the game developer accidentally put the Beta Version of Order of Battle: World War II into my computer a few weeks ago. I never signed up for playing the Beta and I was totally taken by surprise to see the Beta Version of Order of Battle: World War II installed on my computer before it was removed by the developer last week.

It was great to see the new content and I immediately played the first mission (Battle of Lake Khasan July 29, 1938 – August 11, 1938) for Order of Battle: Red Star. It was a lot of fun to play. I had no problem with playing the first mission of Order of Battle: Red Star except there was a delay showing the units health losses right away after a battle. I hope that gets fixed before the new DLC gets released.

I also notice that were an update to Community Content in the Main Menu and there was new single-player and multi-player content available along with new desert skins for tanks (The new desert skins for tanks were made mainly for the DLC Order of Battle: Sandstorm). I played the new single-player scenario "The Battle of Tallinn" in Estonia from July-August 1941. It was well made and a lot of fun to play. I hope more single-player content gets put into Community Content before the new DLC is released since I only saw one new single-player scenario put in. It is the first time I have seen new Community Content put into the game by the developer since Order of Battle: World War II first came out. That was pretty cool to see new content put into the game.

From what I could see the new Order of Battle: Red Star looks like it is almost ready to be released to the public in the next few weeks. I’m ready now to play the Soviets and fight in future battles. Onward Comrades to Victory!

Cheers!

The Battle Of Tallinn is my scenario, I'm glad that it's going to be available and that you've enjoyed it 😁

Shards,

If you done "The Battle of Tallinn" in Community Content, you made a really good scenario and I can see why the game developer put your scenario in the Community Content. You and Erik Nygaard are both extremely talented and I hope to see more single-player content made by both of you in Order of Battle: World War II in the future. It takes a lot of hard work and a lot of research to put these scenarios together. Keep up the good work.

Cheers

Cool beans, looking forward to playing it. I say half-joking, half-seriously though that I kind of hope they hold off releasing Red Star for a bit, as I'm going through Blitzkrieg again and have Panzerkrieg in my queue after that. ;-)

That funny that you mention Order of Battle: Blitzkrieg because I started playing that all over again too. It is one of my favorite DLC's in Order of Battle: World War II. You will enjoy the new Order of Battle: Red Star with all the new content when it comes out I have a gut feeling that Red Star will be coming out real soon so stay tune. Before you know it, it is going to be time to move on from playing the German Campaigns to playing the Soviets Campaigns.

This Developer is really good on makes great campaigns for this game. I'm also looking forward to playing Panzer Corps 2 in the future since it being made by the same developer.

Cheers

Don't get your hopes up too much, last time the *beta* community content did not make it into the "official" build of the game either. But the scen should be available to download on the Slitherine site!

@Shards: Nice to hear from you again. I do remember the "evolution" of the Tallinn scen. :-) Nice work!

Wow! I did not know that beta community content did not make it in the last DLC released for the game. That is really good information to know. I hope the developer realizes this time that they have some really good content for community content (especially the Battle for Tallinn scenario) and it would really be a shame if they left that out of fhe official content for the game. Thanks for the info.

Cheers

@Stetor.1 - I hear ya man. Love this series. I've played three now, and each one has been better than the last. I very much enjoyed Morning Sun with all the nascent prototype pre-WW2 equipment (something I'm looking forward to in Red Star), but Blitzkrieg took the game to a new level of challenge and Operation Typhoon was an amazing endgame! My head was spinning for days after completing that one. Then I tried US Pacific and I was totally blown away by all the great iconic battles so lovingly recreated. I never thought I would get to experience the battles of Samar and Surigao Straits.....be careful what you wish for. ;-)

I suspected it was the same devs doing Panzercorps 2 and you seemed to confirm that. In fact I always thought Order of Battle was an updated Panzercorps. Speaking of which, with Red Star coming out I do hope they take their time releasing PC2. ;-)

You got great taste in games. Me and you seem to be on the same page. So happy to hear that you love Order of Battle: World War II campaigns and that you are looking forward to playing Panzer Corps 2. Panzer Corps 2 is suppose to be coming out later on this year. I can't wait to play that game.

With that being said, another game that is coming out in the next few weeks I think you should check out is Unity of Command II. It made by a different developer but it looks like it going to be another really good World War II strategy game. I can't wait to play that one too. Both of these games are coming out on Steam. I already have them on my Steam Wish List.

Cheers

I tried the demo of the first Unity of Command some time ago. It seemed ok, but for some reason didn't really grab me the way OoB does. I think the thing I love about OoB is that it speaks to my RPG side, what with the gaining of experience, leveling, etc. Speaking of Unity, I look forward to playing the Case Blue and Stalingrad scenarios in Panzerkrieg. Again though, be careful what you wish for. lol In any event I may have to revisit Unity of Command at some point.

Yeah, my Steam wish list is growing of late. One release on it just around the corner is Age of Wonders Planetfall. I loved the first couple of AoW games, but hated AoW3. I've been away from the series a while now, so am willing to give this new one the benefit of a doubt. But I digress.
