Campaign Mods on Slitherine Site
I have been looking at these User created campaign mods on the Slitherine site. Has anyone here played these?

How do you actually install them? There are no installation instructions and I am a mostly technically illiterate older gamer. I can get by if there are decent instructions. I used to install the old games in DOS so this is not tougher, but instructions are still needed.

Thanks all,

Chris

Found the answer in another area of their site:

Good luck all,

Those of you who will play these custom campaigns and scenarios, please come back here and let us know how good they are. I will be trying out all of them eventually.

I followed the instructions to install these and cannot make them work, so I am probably doing it wrong.

Help please, posted here and at the Slitherine site as well.

Thanks,

Chris

Alright, Erik at the Slitherine site helped me figure out what I was doing wrong. I have them installed and all of them working.

I must say that these custom campaigns are not easy. The Blitzkrieg campaign are remade work from Panzer Corps scenarios and campaigns. So if you played Panzer Corps you will recognize some of the work. My only note here is that small airfields are included and have to be destroyed and can really slow down your progress for the overall time frame for victory conditions so factor that in and hit them with 3 units and take them down in a single turn instead of wasting turn after turn beating on them.

I have tried the Phillipines, Kokoda Trail and Blitzkrieg. All are very well done. However, they are not for the mellow or beginner player. All are time based and there is very little time to get each scenario finished. So do not dally and get on with it. Slogging it out is not going to work. Encircle where you can and drive deep and fast or you may not finish a scenario and will have to restart it over and over.

All in all they are worth the effort to play and I am having fun or I should say having more fun. I love what OOB has done but the game is very un replayable. Meaning the Devs should seriously look at ways to make the campaigns worth playing over and over. Branching arcs, redo the heroes so that which ones you get and why are not so scripted. Same for AI for the opfor, having the enemy not always start in exactly the same spot every scenario with the same responses. Even how the opfor spends it points would make a big difference.

Thanks to all the modders out there that did all this work. It is appreciated. For those of you looking for a new challenge, I recommend all of the modded campaigns. Expect a challenge.

the game needs to have a mod area to subscribe to these scenarios lol

Yes it would be nice if there was an official place here on steam for such a function. A place where modders could use the tools given them by the developers to make campaigns and scenarios and even artwork for the game. But also where players of the game could just click on the scenario, campaign or redone artwork and then it would auto download and then be playable.

Wait doesn't steam offer something like that?

Please developers, make this game better, offer tools and support for modders officially by making it work in steam.

I know its a late christmas wish but I am old and well a game this good needs lots of love.

I downloaded the Blitzkrieg campaign and had to just rename the file to make it work. I like that it has more scenarios but there is a terrible glitch with the objectives. I see many of them do not register as achieved even when they are. There is always one or two still with a red x next to them even when I met the requirement of the objective. Has anyone else noticed this yet??

There should be no need to rename an ything, just copy the unzipped Blitzkrieg folder to the My documents etc Campaigns folder.
Which scenario are you having problems with objectives?
That some objectives in some scenario need to be cleared of enemy units in a 2-hex radius.
This is in the objective 'rewards' note when you select it.

My PC doesn't make a folder in the documents my games folder, it's only in my Steam/SteamApps/common/OrderOfBattlePacific/OrderOfBattle-WW2_Data/Content/Campaigns. All the campaigns are there with a number in front of them to show where they show up in the selection screen to choose them. Example: 0Tutorial 1Japan1941 4MarineCorps 7Blitzkrieg etc... I have the origional Blitzkrieg named 7Blitzkrieg. The download files named Blitzkrieg39-40 didn't work until I renamed it 7Blitzkrieg. But anyway I know all about meeting the objectives and I'm telling you that some of them stay marked with a red x even when they are met even if i have a radius of control greater than 2 or no matter how fast i gained control of the objective. It's obviously a glitch.

Please state the scenario where you found the glitch.
Otherwise I have no way of testing/fixing it...

I think your Steam installation has an issue since it did not create the My games etc folders. This is the same place where your settings, save games etc reside.

Doh! nevermind I found it. I was looking in Documents/My Games not "My Documents/My Games" there are two. I'll try just unzipping it and see what happens.

It works just the same way as before when I just renamed the file and put it in the steam folder but now i can launch both the mod and vanilla game without changing out the folders. The problem with the objectives is still the same. It starts happening on the second scenario. I'm playing it now. I have two of the 4 objectives with control of a 2 hex radius and it shows a failed red X by three of them and only one has a green check.

Well it worked but it still takes a while to register some objectives even when they have been taken and have the proper 2 hex control around them. Not sure why that is but as long as it works now I guess I'll stop complaining. :)

I also got the same glitch, but while it didn't show that I had achieved the objective, it did allow me to win the scenarios and gave me credit for the things that did not show up.

The first time I played the second scenario it was a draw I think or maybe just a minor victory and even though I got the objectives with 6 turns left I still had to play all the turns to the end. This time it gave me a minor victory well before all the turns were up. I still like these campaign scenarios much better than just having only 12 in the vanilla version.
