Yes. I don't know what new terms you kids use nowadays, but back in my day we called the free game a "Demo". There are DLCs available for purchase that allow you to play a variety of campaigns. I have the Marines DLC and enjoy it very much. I'll probably get some others when they're on sale.

Basically, the tutorial is free, but the rest of the game isn't. So it's about as scammy as you can get and not get ejected from the steam store.

seems like a good game , to bad it sounds like a demo , free to play games are just that FREE this game should change to free to play it would get aton more players and make more money aswell if done correctly ,welcome to 2017

The term 'free' is up for debate. I prefer the term demo as free obviously leads a number of players to think that the whole game is free..
It allows you to play every first scenario in all current and future campaigns. So it is definately more than just the boot-camp. I would not call that 'scammy'...

You have the game, a campaign, the boot camp campaign (yes, it is not only a tutorial: try it at highest difficulties) and the first mission of every DLC.
The game is free, the DLCs are not. Crystal-clear.

I really would prefer every new thread complaining about a game not being gifted for free to be deleted instantly.

P.S: someone told me, without a DLC you cannot play the mod! Is it true?

Really?? People still complaining about somethig that cost them nothing.
Game Dev's PLEASE. These fools WANT to be ripped off.

:D I'm not complaining. But having a mod for free should be the norm. I already own the full game. No regrets.

Free mod's have not been the "norm" for over a decade.
It is RARE to get any demo these days with "early acess"
rippoffs being so trendy.

Not exactly true. The first mission of 4 of the DLC's are also playable.

no

from certain points of views, the answer is both.

It's free in the aspect that on the page it costs 0.00 money, and you get a full campaign and the starts of the others right off the bat.

It's not in that the campaigns each cost money.

Download the game, finish the boot camp, try the mission of each campaign (Demoing the campaigns) to see which you like, then buy the campaign / campaigns you want! It's not very complicated :)

I hope you get into it though as the game is great and deserves more attention. Take care!
