Uboots are proving to be a challenge, with two boats only 5 attacks and 2 hits.
Side note, subs fire torpedoes as a broadside, which looks a bit silly...but no sure if that's an old or a new *bug/feature*.
Torpedoes broadside sure look funny.
Finally, since you actually win as soon as you sink 19 transports (well, at the end of turn), it is fairly safe to launch mass-assault on escorts at that moment. Kind of dirty trick, but oh well :)
The scale is claustrophobic - don't know what the designers were thinking when they shrunk that large area to such a post stamp of a map. Naval guns in Scotland almost reach Norway and Iceland.
*at least the sub is a viable attack platform killing cargo ships with one torpedo attack.
Normally with a Cargo 10, it takes multiple attacks even from BB mainguns to sink.
Looks like I missed the start points Route A, B and C. The choke points are not so bad if you start in the right place...so my bad.
So second play went much better, managed to sink 2 battleships and have my AA deal 10 damage minimal, but then all went sour. The RN had two more BB squadrons heading my way - 4 more BBs added to the two surviving BBs. Also there were many cruisers and DDs.
So in short, my 2x BB, 3x CA and 1x CL got swamped and were destroyed piece by piece, my veteran CA going last. Do recon a/c trigger AI movements?
Ok, that's the realistic challenge of fighting the *whole* RN with an inferior force.
Will have to figure out a key to win this one.
One thing I'd like to know.
The goals are confusing because the line says:
The objective is only met with 3 ships sunk, but which part is wrong - the text or the parameter?
And above all, I can not find an aircraft carrier anywhere.
Does anyone know whereabouts are?
I personally used wolfpack of subs (2x IX plus 1x new VII (not sure about the difference really)) to soften up BBs and then suddenly ran into CV, much to my surprise :)
