information panel not updating

After rediscovering this game buried in my steam library, I thought I would give it another go.

The main problem I am having is with the information panel not updating when you hover over a new item. This is particularly a problem in the spell upgrade panel. I'm interested to see what spell options my nation has. Sometimes a panel updates showing me a spell or two, but more often it just doesn't update, so I can't see any information about the spells. It doesn't seem to matter if I click or not. I've also tried moving the mouse and bringing it back again, also opening and closing panels. Sometimes it helps, but it's making the game pretty unplayable.

I know the game is no longer supported, or sold, but this seems such a trivial thing, which no one else seems to have mentioned. I'm hoping that there is something simple I can change in my settings - maybe even a graphic setting, that might help?

I know this is a week later, but I think the issue is that you have another window over it(like the building upgrade window). I noticed that prevents the cards from being shown. But if that's not the issue, no idea.

It's not that, but thanks - I give up on this and am playing Dominion 6 now ;)

For me it's the opposite, just finished burning myself out on Dominions 6 and started playing this again.

Real shame that the AI doesn't do anything in many of the battles. Only real problem I've had this time. On my old computer the game used to crash a lot, but not at all with my new one.
