I can confirm there is a fallback system in place that grants the drop at 100 booster packs opened, so that might end up helping out. (It's been in place since launch, so all non-collector packs you've opened will count towards it)
Could you put a counter somewhat on settings or something that can tell me how many packs I opened until the card drops then? Its had to tell how many packs are left when there's no counter on item to tell you when it will drop (maybe the lucky dice can say that or you get an idea from an NPC character that tells you that). Maybe you get it the first time you visit a vending machine called "booster pack counter" that says "this tracks how many booster packs you opened so far."
Forgot to ask that any packs expect for collector packs counts toward the 100 you have to open for the god card to drop then? It doesn't need to be 100 of the same pack and can be any combination of 100 from among the regular 4 in the game like 25 of each pack, etc. then?
If so, I'll test this in a new save file I starting up to see how easy and grindy it is to reach final frontier without dueling, considering I found the guy who did it and said that the collector unlocks the next pack once you complete the current one. (How does this collector get new packs into the machine? Does he hack the vending machines to supply them or something?)
Excited to see you take on the challenge. Honestly I think it will be quiteeeeeee the grind but enjoy!
I would say Cardaire Corp gave him some access to the vending system as part of his role in junction hub, which he uses to bump you up to the next path. (Probably not how his access was intended to be used, but he's just so impressed he let's ya in.)
If I do decide to go the non-duel route, is it possible to also complete the "get every card in the game achievement" on that save file since I remember you have to duel the masked duelist to get one of the power cards and I'm unaware if there's another way to get it that doesn't involve dueling him since this would count as a duel to ever get it (and end the challenge there)? It would also lock me out of the over-world card since you need to destroy a tree branch to access the area its in. Those are the only 2 cards I remember that's tied to defeating someone to get it, which basically prevents me from getting the achievement and doing the non-duel route to the final on the same save file.
So basically, if I do the no-duel route to the finals, than I can go back and get all of the pins and duel whatever since you only need to avoid duels up to the finals and then you can do whatever you want post-game? Thought I check to make sure you can still duel the 3 gym leaders, the 2 duels with gwan, and the masked duelist since I can't tell if the game keeps those events in place if you duel the alternative no-duel route for the finals and the game will ban getting the stuff you missed out on that require duels to begin with.
(This is where a new game+ could come in handy so that you can erase the progress, but go back and see what other route, etc. you could have done and your cards are still you with, but the NPCs think you're starting from scratch.)
The bosses should still be there, but some of the Gwen fights might be cleared. Had never even considered NG+, that would be neat to let plays loop as they want. Would definitely have to change the routing a bit to keep them from running through the collection level path.
I think I overlooked this bug. In Juntion Hub, there are some grass spots where the character is unable to work through even when there's no obstance on those spaces. I don't know the exact slots, but they include the grass in front of the school student that talks in all caps, the grass behind the collector that's has no boxes on top of them, some grass around the person that gives you the 4-cost card that destroys a soul, etc. I wanted to mention that before I forget.
Thought I let you know that I was able to complete the game using the no-duel route, but the character that says that its possible to beat the game without any duels beforehand has no new dialogue to say after I beat the game doing that. Is the story text actually there, or do I have to talk to a different character for them to say that?
Otherwise, I'll complete the rest of the game to try to get that achievement since it seems like the rest of the game is unaffected and the only thing to do now is complete the regular story mode, minus the final frontier since I beat it already.
I checked my inventory, and there's no letter in there. Is the game bugged where it doesn't pay out the correct reward despite completing the no card route?
