Its hard to even notice, as there's not a damage popup or animation or anything cluing you in that anything is even happening in the first place...
Grope Weed and Shifting Sand are the two
most common dangerous terrain types.
Infantry that end their turn in Grope Weed are
at risk of taking some damage, but other units
are unaffected. Both Infantry and Vehicles are
at risk of taking damage in Shifting Sand, so it
is best to avoid these hexes whenever possible.
4.12. Helsreach Monsters
Helsreach Monsters are terrain types that act as if they are hostile units
– they have the capability to attack units in adjacent hexes. Only heavily
armoured units are able to completely ignore Helsreach Monster
attacks. In addition, Helsreach Monsters block all line of sight.
Yes you right. Especially considering you find repeatedly Helsreach Monsters on bridge ramps on almost every map that features them.
Artemi, if you're really lost with what does what; that is why I've written the guides I have, they can help give general overviews. Admittedly I haven't put one up that explains game mechanics atm.
