Returning to the Metal Tree Glitch?

So I'm about to finish the third area and I need to repair the elevator, but even while I'm standing on the objective, I can't fix it. I'm stopping for today and hoping a simple reload will fix it, but, as of now, I am stuck. If anyone can let me know what I'm missing (like if I'm even in the right area) I'd appreciate it.

A reviewer I watched on YouTube said to go right on top of the objective, save, and then load. I don't know if this will work for you, but worth a try. Make sure to use a new save slot

I saved right in front of it and that fixed it too.
