Enjoying Atelier Yumia
I enjoying Atelier Yumia a lot so far. My only real complaint is some of the gameplay mechanics are really convoluted plus the constant mini-puzzle solving is a bit tedious, plus PC performance and optimization could be better but I like everything else.

Tbh the story isn't THAT dark and mature, but by Atelier standards it definitely is. Without spoiling anything, Atelier Yumia feels like what Ryza 3 should have been with its story. Plus the characters are really varied in personality but it adds a lot of dynamic in character interactions, so it's enjoyable to see. The dialogue options are a nice add on as well even if it doesn't impact anything at all. Combat is pretty fun as well even if it's a bit button mashy at times, it's complex enough to keep you on your toes.

The open world has plenty of stuff to discover as well. I ngl, it ain't beating the "Atelier Impact" allegations but honestly idrc lol, I haven't felt bored or burned out yet. I learned my mistakes from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, this time I vowed to not attempt 100%ing any region until after I'm done with the main story and I think this works way better to pace myself with the story.

I understand why some long-time Atelier fans might feel like Yumia is getting too "generic" to attract "new audiences" and how it "doesn't feel like an Atelier game anymore" but idk, I guess I just don't get all that impacted with a series change drastically. People were saying the same thing for FFXVI and Tales of Arise and I'm just like...I'm having fun and I'm enjoying the story and gameplay. That's enough for me honestly. If I wanted more of the old stuff, I just replay those old games. At this rate, it's possible Yumia can dethrone Lydie and Suelle as my favorite Atelier game but we have to see

I'm also enjoying it. Having a lot of fun!
I think people are having a negative reaction to the early game limitations. This isn't one of the previous games were you can max out your gear every 5 min. The limits on recipe progression and the wildly different alchemy are offputting until you understand what you're doing. I'm only in zone 3 and starting to make busted gear with lvl 6 and 7 recipes

I do find the progression speed a little awkward. I'm already lvl 65 and i wouldn't exactly call anything i've done 'grinding' - All i have to say is "pink puni"

I'm waiting for the Hatsune Miku collab next
I also like it so far, MY biggest annoyance is with the alchemy part, specifically the darn little intro dance she makes every time i pick a new recipe.
Ever F-ing Time, present the vial, do a twirl, floating text, strike a pose, i swear, if i just want to make some neutralizers the into takes more time then the rest of the processes, i cant find a way to skip it.
As a result i have made maybe a third of my unlocked recipes, i cant make more then 3 items before the constant little breaks for a twirly dance breaks my crafting flow completely.

Yup. They should have made that bit skippable, like the other repetitive time-sink animations. Maybe they'll update it.

Even better would be an option to just always skip it.

Great game, there's insane amounts of content to spend time with pretty characters.
I'll probably get the same amount of time as from Ryza games, like 60-70 hours of gameplay.

I didn't even think about this lmao. The games starting to grow on me a little now I've given it a fifth try but yeah alchemy isn't particularly exhilarating lol. I'm hoping the gameplay picks up at least. If the story gets entertaining I'll probably play it just for that. But the whole dark evil story in an atelier game lmao. Great idea Gust.
