Any romance?
Simple question, but is there any kind of romance subplot involving the MC? Yuri or straight, it doesn't matter. I'm just curious. I know the Atelier series has always been lacking in the romance department (outside of E&L, which I loved), but it would be nice to have optional romance options that's more than just "leave it to the player's imagination" so to speak.

The answer is no there is no romance able characters the way you would see in persona stardew or the rune factory games.

The series is a jrpg story often earlier iterations was slice of life coming of age, but it's a jrpg story with your your input not really changing much.

This is closer in nature to a final fantasy the way the story is told and presented :)

So, to put it simply, this game doesn't feature any romance whatsoever, correct? Because there's more ways than just how Persona, Stardew Valley, or Rune Factory implements romance in their games. Great example being, as you mentioned, Final Fantasy. As VII (and the remakes), VIII, X, and XVI are all good examples (in my opinion of course).

As far I'm concerned and experienced so far correct, that's been a stable of all other atelier games I've played as well
Romance is not a thing and not a focus

Okay, thank you for the answer then. :) Yeah, I know the series doesn't tend to do it from the few I've played, but the one I actually enjoyed the most did (Escha & Logy), and given they are doing some things different in this one compared to Ryza and the others, I wanted to go ahead and ask.

I've not beaten the game yet but so far most interaction is borderline antagonistic with you being treated as an outcast who should feel shame for your own existence.

I think the relationships will evolve to be less hostile but as it stands right now I don't see romance happening.

But I haven't beaten the game yet only finished the first area

Honestly I kind of wished it did have romance. Not the Fire Emblem/Persona kind though. One of my all time favorite games is FF8. Sadly JRPGs with canon(not side) love stories have become few and far between. I personally love a good epic adventure with a romance story nestled within it all. Probably why I read a fair amount of VNs.

I absolutely agree! Seems like it went from the 90s to 2000s era where nearly half of the JRPGs that came out had romance (variety between being part of the main story or having different characters to romance) to now where you might get a couple or so every year that isn't a series typically known for it. But to add to your point, that's also why I love Tales of Arise so much. Is it the best Tales game? No, not in my opinion. But it's a phenomenal game with a romance that's important to the story.

I'll definitely keep that in mind. Thank you!
