Why can't people just have fun?
Why does everyone complain about a game that just launched and its not their perfect baby right away? Its a new game. Expect bugs, expect things to break and not be perfect. Why can't everyone just enjoy the game instead of complaining like little babies who just want to play another sophie game? The game is even getting review bombed. C'mon.

Its called having standards and expectations for a 70$+ game, with that logic no game should get any criticism ever

Doesn't matter, a mediocre score won’t stop me from enjoying this game, which is a nice change from the previous Atelier titles. But right now, I can’t afford to buy it and give it a good rating. ^^

i mean its one thing to have standards which is all well and good but you have to admit there are some over the top expectations that are out there. grounded expectations is the best way to go about something that you really have no control of or what those who are building it has in their mind for it.

But if they are just simple criticisms, where is the problem?
As long as they are not offensive, they must also be sincere, otherwise I agree with you, since I have the impression here, that many post negatively, only for competition reasons and this, is another reason why, the gaming sector is in crisis.
From sincere, positive and constructive criticisms, a good harvest can only be born, since they will contribute, to improve the game.

ive seen people demaning AAA graphics but those are newcomers so thats to be expected, the game culling every ounce of depth in every aspect slapping on an ill fitting open world and a generic story and asking for 70+ is whats got most people upset with yumia me included

If people didn't complain then the issues would never be fixed. Stop being stupid.
What a shock.. people have opinion..

If a game costs 70$+ than it has to deliver high quality. Cant be taht some free gatcha games with comparable graphics runs much better than this expensive paid game.

The first response to the OP should have been the end of this thread. The majority of the people complaining come from an era where games were released in a playable state, were generally bug free and looked as good as they could on that generations hardware. That is now a thing of the past. Instead we get a $70 blurry mess, that plays okay, but, makes me feel like I have eyesight problems and should be wearing glasses.

I am having fun with the game for the most part. I don't have any nonsensical complaints (like censorship or modern audience or whatever) but tbh, I expected Gust to release a better product for $70 as far as polish. $70 is triple A pricing and I feel like Yumia is actually below Ryza 3 in terms of overall visuals. Some of the textures are really blurry even on max settings and no naive ultrawide support or DLSS is ridiculous.

I had high expectations with its production values when I found out Yumia will be $70 and so far it been very disappointing.

I'm having fun with it, sure it's irritating that the PC port is a bit janky, but it's a good time.

AA Japanese developers like pushing out AAA price tags for everything they release, regardless of the quality of their games. They do this because they want to be seen as someone who plays with the big kids.
Its a terrible game for this price tag.
The game industry gets worse and worse every year instead of better.

since 2020 there was not even 1 single top release.
Some were kinda good or something but overall 30% average and the rest was horribly bad.

The western market is dead anyway but in general big companies don't know how to make good games anymore it seems.

It's definitely no budget problem, but in general Gust has become one of the most lazy developers in asia. They release 1 disappointment after another.

KT is also not a good publisher in general. I heard the new dynasty warriors was somewhat decent but otherwise they lost their soul years ago already.
Same as Sony and Square Enix. Simply just 2 terrible companies nowadays.

Like the first response stated: specific standards should be set for each individual especially since such big companies have 0 budget problems.

The bigger the company the worse they are. (hello Google)

What an absurdly ignorant post. I have a lot more fun playing good games than ♥♥♥♥ ones. Your parents should never have let you onto the internet, OP.

Honestly I won't lie Atelier Sophie 2 quickly rose as one of my favourite games ever and is what got me into Atelier to begin with.

This game is not Atelier Sophie 2.
And is that a bad thing? Not really.

I do hope that Gust returns to more traditional formulas in the future or at least goes for a different synthesis system, but if I look at what the game is on it's own it's... not that bad?

I still find myself spending a fair amount of time with synthesis and hope the complexity will increase the further I go (about to enter the second region) and I don't hate the combat.

If nothing else it's still more interesting to me than Marie, remake or not :P
