That said, I do agree that the "AAA" pricing makes no sense for this game
In regards to graphics, it's not like they DON'T matter. I don't care about graphical fidelity, I care more about art direction than raw texture resolution or some fancy shaders or whatever -- but it is... not great in this game. It's genuinely unreadable sometimes, very blurry in general.
As for the second part of your comment. Quit projecting and get help.
No, we sound like responsible adults who attach value to their money.
These are not $70 graphics.
If a company wants to charge a premium price for their game, that comes with certain expectations. This 70 dollar price tag puts it in the same league as games like Kingdom Come 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds.
If this game were 40, 50 or 'maybe' even 60, then fine, we can start to excuse the graphics, but not at this price point. Sorry.
1. I disagree, they feel more like late PS4 era graphics to me. Not bad, but they could be a lot better.
2. I agree about the camera, but what do you mean by "fixed animation and movement"?
3. This is subjective, I enjoyed the combat system.
4. I wouldn't say it's 2010 era, but yeah no wide screen is disappointing.
5. I also feel that this is subjective, I like the character designs. Yumia's especially.
6. This is just how much some games cost these days, It sucks but it's not gonna change. Also no one is forcing you to buy the more expensive versions. It's just cosmetics, and I'm sure that people will make outfit mods eventually.
No, it's how much AAA/High End games cost.
The 70 dollar price point puts Atelier in the same price range as Kingdom Come 2, Dynasty Warriors: Origins, and Monster Hunter Wilds.
Obviously, no one is expecting Kingdom Come 2 level graphics from an anime game, but we're also not expecting blurry textures and low-rez terrain.
For the same price, you can get Monster Hunter Wilds, and Wilds is not out there with blurry graphics and muddy terrain textures. Meanwhile, Dynasty Warriors: Origins looks fantastic. Yes, they are different genres, but we're talking price.
Regardless of the genre, these are not 70 dollar graphics.
Edit: Just checked, and this game is 10 dollars more expensive than Kingdom Come 2. That is indefensible.
I mean a game like this would have been $60 before the $10(or whatever in your currency) increase, not that much of a difference. The Ryza trilogy was released at $60 per game.
I honestly have no clue what you're talking about with "a game like this."
In US Dollars, 70 is the current going rate for AAA/High End games.
Price Comparison:
- Monster Hunter Wilds: 70
- Dynasty Warriors: Origins: 70
- Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: 60
Yumia's price point puts it in the same price range as these recent high end titles.
I'm sorry, but Yumia does not warrant a 70 dollar price tag with its muddy, last gen textures.
I had a lot of fun playing the demo, and the graphics didn't bother me that bad.
You are free to disagree, but comparisons between similarly priced products within the same industry are unavoidable.
I do not want to pay premium price for graphics that look 10+ years out of date - especially when games from the SAME PUBLISHER look fantastic - at the same (or even lower) price point.
If the devs cut corners on graphics, why haven't they passed those cut corners onto the consumers? Charge a premium price, give a premium product - and graphics are part of this product.
