Chasm

I have a problem while in fullscreen on a 4k monitor
First of all let me say that I'm really happy that Chasm is finally here. It plays wondeful so far and and I really like the beginning in the castle. I'm eager to dive fully into the game. Had it in my library since the first alpha thingy.

But as of today I have a "small" problem when playing in fullscreen. My desktop is set to 4K and while playing Chasm in Fullscreen the game has a big black border around it, even with 6 times scaling from the options menu. I never had this problem while playing the alpha back in the day on my old 1080p monitor. Just wondering if this is normal because of some "engine limitations" ,intended or maybe a bug.

Hey Skrei thanks for backing! Sorry for the trouble, we are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it. Sometimes Windows doesn't report the correct resolution to us (high dpi and over-scaling are 2 problems we've identified), so the options we show on the menu are wrong. One possible temporary fix is to try setting your desktop resolution to 1080p, it may let the game fill the full screen then.

No need to thank me for backing because I sadly didn't. But I will buy the game on PS4 just to support your company. I was working for a small german gaming website a few years back and covered your game a few times. You gave me access to a very early PC alpha for that reason. :) Since then I read all the news mails you sent me and was waiting for the full release of Chasm. The last mail regarding the release took me kind of by surprise.

Man...it sure took a looong time. :) And voila...here it is. What a fine way to start the week. Even if I have to work the whole week and have to wait until the Weekend to play. :) Oh and good to know that you are aware of the problem. I will probably wait until you've found a fix. Just because I like to play Chasm in all it's pixelated glory. :)

I wish you all the best and hope that all the hard work will pay of for you.

Fullscreen also doesn´t work on 3440x1440 ultrawide resolution.
Cuts off the upper and lower parts of the screen while still having black borders.

If your monitor is not 16:9 then it will be partially letterboxed since we can't stretch the pixel art unevenly without causing artifacts.

i know that its gonna be letterboxed, didn´t expect a pixel game to run fullscreen, just saying that the stretch issue is not only 16:9 or 4k

I have the opposite issue, works fine on 4k but that was what launched the game first and now just on my laptop is crazy small and will not resize.

Is the laptop a separate machine from the 4k one? Just wondering if your options are getting synced. Maybe try toggling fullscreen off and messing with the slider and see if it helps?

for me 4k and laptop are the same.

Right clicking on the game's exe and checking 'disable fullscreen optimizations' fixed this for me. I also went into high DPI settings and checked 'override high DPI scaling'.

Thanks. This worked like a charm.

Thanks ultrabrilliant! That will help a lot until we get a proper resolution selector in.

This did nothing for me, game still crops the same way and cuts off parts of the screen at top and bottom

1.0p is up now, and we've added a resolution selector to help in situations where high dpi or overscaling is in use. For people with non-16:9 monitors, you'll probably have a little black space around the screen still. We will be looking into a "Fit to Screen" option next that will stretch the art - not preferable for pixel art since it loses sharpness, but if you prioritize real estate it will help.

Heya, I'm having the same issue on 2560x1080. I expect black bars because scaling but it cuts off the top and bottom. I took screenshots to show the issue

Oh wow, I haven't seen that one yet. Thanks for the report, I've added it to the list to look into.
