BE ADVISED: BOSSES GIVE ITEMS FOR NOT GETTING HIT [Spoilers for bosses!]
THIS IS IMPORTANT TO HIGHLIGHT: BOSSES WILL, IN FACT, GIVE SOME USEFUL ITEMS IF YOU CAN MANAGE TO BEAT THEM WITHOUT GETTING HIT. NOT DOING THAT MEANS YOU ONLY GET HP+.

This message was brought to you by an angry Metroidvania fan (screw this worm boss)

Update: After dealing with all the possible bosses that have dropped items, here's the final conclusion:

Wendigo- Drops a dagger type weapon called Wendigo Claw. high damage for that point in the game but overall nothing important here

Bone Worm- Drops Worm Armor. Passable armor that is bested in defence later, but seems to have a 1/4 chance to negate damage, so it is useful but that's considering what items we have here

Titan- Titan Hammer. Commonly accepted here to be a great weapon for the shockwave attack that can hit from afar with high damage, despite being a slow weapon. The Titan boss might be hard to no hit, but it is well worth it!

Trell- Trell Sword. A large sword that falls short of the titan hammer, overall there are better weapons.

Shaman- Shaman Staff (AX). Useless hammer type. surprisingly for the hard fight to earn it the item is worthless at that point in the game.

Confirmed to not have drops for no hits so far:

-Minibosses (Although money was reported at some cases)
-Arena bosses
-Final boss ( Need I say more?)

In conclusion of this post: Yeah most boss drops are skippable, but do take note of the hammer and optionally the armor. Even as a completionist these are not worth the time.

Well, that sucks because you find most of the useful weapons to hit enemies without being hit early in the game, like the whip, if you use the seed FFFFFFFF.

I found most of the treasure chests early on in the mines level, and found that later levels doesn't have as much chests.

I wish I had known this, but oh well, it's something to keep in mind for my second playthrough.

Damn.. cheers for the heads up!
Only faced the Wendigo so far, seemed like an easy enough pattern to dodge but I didn't really care about the few hits I took at the time.

How to kill motivation to play 101. Get hit, reset, backtrack. Rinse, repeat, or just cheat.

No backtrackign required. EVERY boss (except the final one) has a save room directly before it.

If you really want to grind for that no dmg item, it really won't take much to reload and try again.

What are these items? Is anything unique? Or is it just basically bonus treasure?

The Wendigo's Claw from the 1st boss, i killed him using a knife and i had to jump a little after the eye pops up so im behind him, and land 4-5 slash of 16 damage (easy mode on 2nd playthru to test this), he died before he could go onto the celiling and do that move.

Its good damage around silver weapon range, is a knife that swings fast... That's it.

The thing about this game is that input lag is apparent, you can't swing that knife fast unless you press rapidly and in a timely manner, and knives have such a short range that it's useless in certain boss fights.

So I'd say:

Wendigo - Use the strongest fastest moves as it has very easy telegrapthed movesets.
Bone Worm - Use the longest range and play it safe rather than risk, due to the worm's body having a unusual shape making it hard to hit it from the ground level.

I suggest grinding to get gear for MP spamming attacks and doing the most damage with the axe, boomerang, or molotov for the worm, but in most case zero damage fights against the boss is doable, most of the time you are fighting your own controls trying to get the timing down right.

I'm playing on a dualshock 4, and the keyboard is much more responsive but uncomfortable for long sessions, where as the action seen and button pressed with dualshock 4 has input lag and it feels uncomfortable there.

They should have made it so Boss drops can be attained in other ways other than zero damage, because in 2nd and later playthroughs some of these drops are pretty useless.

Never did the bone worm to know what it contains but the wendigo claw is dumb since attack animation in this game is very limited.

For me, Whip is best weapon, then club/2h swords, then spears, then swords, then axes, then knives...

Because later on the enemies will have more mobile movesets when attacking and you have to dodge a lot (Garden boss is annoying to zero damage given the HUGE amount of projectiles it throws out and the flame drop one is particularly annoying to do pixel perfect dodge to get out of the way.)

Thanks for the heads up, I stopped on the save point before the first boss:)

Difficulty mode basically affects global multiplier of enemy damage and health in relative to the player.
Easy = 50%
Normal = 100%
Hard = 150%

Because during this test on easy, equipping the early armor already makes me take 1 damage to every enemy in the Mines biome.

When I fought the Wendigo, I hit it about 5-6 times per 'invisible slash' animation the boss did, 3 times, then it rammed the wall and i slashed it 5-6 times think...
I did 16 dmg per slash.

On normal it has about 530~560HP.
On easy it might have been around 400~500HP.

So I take it these items eventually get replaced by other gear?

Seems so. I replaced the claw you get for the first boss, pretty quickly for another weapon. Although that was just one boss, the other ones are probably far more useful.

Ugh, I JUST finished Order of Eccelsia after swering up a storm at it's difficulty.... and the bosses in that game did have sucha reward too, but at least it was just a medal that does nothing.... they actually give you useful gear that you miss out on and can't get without starting a new game?

The Titan Hammer that you get from the boss in the garden area is pretty good. When the hammer hits the ground, it creates a tall shockwave that travels in front of you for a good bit. It replaced my whip for a good minute. It doesn't cost magic points either, which is nice. The king boss also does the same shockwave attack. Although I must have glitched the game up because now my titan hammer won't do the shockwave attack anymore =/
