Also, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night had similar drop rates for the really good items. It's just another video game thing.
You haven't tried farming for Slabs in 1, the Mad Warrior Set in 2, or Darkmoon covenant drops in 3, but I know you just think you're sooooo right. :)
Darkmoon, and pretty much all the covenant items say hi.
I very much disagree, with the right setup it isn't that bad. You're thinking that they're worse because the required number of drops is much higher, but the actual drop rates with decent stats is far more tolerable. Keep in mind especially that your kills per minute is much lower in the Souls games.
Only in the context of going back and forth into a room and killing one enemy every 4-5s do you realize just how low the drop rates are in this game.
Bruh ive got more slabs on deck than you even know.
The drop rate in this game is honestly pretty frustrating, which is just one of the many things this game goes out of its way to not benefit the player. People will just call you a newb or that you don't get what the devs were going for, but frankly this game would have been pretty dank back in 2013 when it was announced but after 5 years it has honestly been a pretty lackluster experience so far.
I know everyone who purchased this game first week obviously loves metroidvania games and all this games faults have been pretty much stated at this point but I think the gatekeepers in this forum are being overly defensive of those faults being discussed.
Okay clearly you have no idea how to farm in Dark Souls. Mimic Helm, Gold Serpent Ring, Coins, etc. You can push item discovery so damn high in ANY of these games that farming becomes a joke. Did you say cov items? You mean PvP related items that are actally fun to farm and that eventually unlock INCREDIBLE spells? You must not like PvP or be that great at it if farming ears or w/e was hard for you. No offense.
Maybe try harder? In any case, I agree that the drop rates do need an increase. At least 5%. 10% would be more fun for everyone imo. Were not competing in the olympics here, we're trying to save Karthas and have fun while doing it.
trying a luck build (as much as you can build) and its effect on drops/crits is very underwhelming
Yeah this seriously needs to be addressed then. Luck must only govern crits and not drops. Meaning all drops are fixed. In which case major drop rate reworking seems to be in good order.
About this - I think LCK should work like it does in Order of Ecclesia.
There, every LCK points increases every drop rate by a static 0.05%, so with 20 LCK, a 1% drop rate will be boosted to a 2% drop rate.
Though, the exact value could need some fine-tuning: a 0.075% or 0.1% static boost per point could also work, or it could be scaled such that higher LCK gives exponentially higher boosts (so that a typical endgame player with 25 LCK would have a moderate boost while a player using LCK boosting equipment to get 40-50 LCK would get super high droprates).
