It all depends on the character and costume.
All games I play are Installed on my brother PC, because his are i7 while mine are dual core-laptop. And I play DoA PC version.
So you can't really modify your character aside from what was mentioned already, haircut, shades, underwear.
I feel that their hefty dlc profits have little to do with the lack of "create a character". I would think such a feature would be nothing less than a gold mine. Imagine all the crap they could sell for your created character. Hell, I would even buy **** to suit my needs. "Oh these overpriced glasses would look badass on my fighter chick". They could sell mini skirts and buckets of other crap that us many fools will rob old ladies for.
Not having custom characters has nothing to do with "monarchy" but certainly budgeting.
DOA's still my favorite fighting game, though.
Tecmo probably has the same fears about their game on PC as any other developer: Piracy and Mod Cheating.
I honestly think they are less worried about the nude mods than about cheaters ruining the community. Why not say they are worried about cheaters? Not sure, but I'm thinking it might be a reason why the online mode was delayed on PC.
It would be cool to see more character customization in the game. Perhaps that will be the big feature update for DOA6 (hoping they'll make it).
So, playing TAG and Arcade over and over again (without story value in hand) and try to open each character costume per finishing an arcade or tags are rubbish. I don't have a friends to play this game as their are FPS or RPG base players. So I can only play this game with my brother, but only occasionally and it only stay for 10 matches.
This game should have been delayed until they have Online capability, because Online is the strong point of this game. And as I mention above, in Total Biscuit review, when finally DoA 5 LR open Online server, this game already forgotten from most its players, and only hardcore fans are stay to play.
The story modes are filler, always. Some are just better than others. But in this case I actually find the silly story servicable. Gave me something else to do for a bit.
If they wanted to spend more money on the game, investing more in the story would be tragic.
And honestly, it was always expected that only the core gamers would be left after a month or two. Not sure where the surprise is. Even if online was up now, I would expect most people to move along after a few weeks.
