With the sound you can know when somebody using some attack and you can react with sound to prepare your "counter attack". (The OH from Jann Lee can be heard with the voice)
You can also refer to your own attack. For example with Jann Lee after a middle punch counter if I counter in a good timing with a "counter +" the sound will be different than I regular counter and I know that I have the opportunity to remove high damages.
The english audio seems a waste of time and money to me. Even with the english voices that have decent acting it doesn't fit well.
Nyotengu is the best example of why the english version doesn't work. English speakers still enjoy her funny speech pattern in Japanese even if they don't understand it. While her english voice is boring and sounds forced even though the actor did nothing wrong.
Who does Troy Baker voice?
I think this is a good idea also. But can't some characters speak multiple languages?
