The really weird thing I've noticed is sometimes I can turn on throwdown in arcade or training and get people right away, after getting nothing in online mode for a while. Do people in throwdown mode have their own queue separate from online?
So you're more likely to get a match in throwdown.
That's my guess at least, I by no means am saying I know that for certain.
The more you rank, the less game you will find.
That's true, but its no fun being a lower rank and having three straight rounds handed to you by a higher rank. The higher ranks have to learn to tone it down when fighting lower ranks. Pick a character you're not good with, or throw the first round. Destroying someone several ranks down doesn't really do anything for stats and just causes the "scrubs" to limit the options.
Better yet, higher ranks, give yourself some kind of handicap to keep it interesting. Win without using kicks. Or win using only throws. Whatever. Something that makes it interesting for you as well.
I play several ranks above my own btw.
So how will you learn then? You cant always fight people at the same rank or below you. Its bad enough you are limiting yourself. The only way to "git gud" (ahem) is to fight people who are higher rank than your own. Yes you lose but at least you gain experience on how to deal with people using the same character the higher rank uses. Think of it as practice!
No wonder the wait time is long. Lolz. Step it up!
But you have to agree that is pretty impossible to learn something against a player that barely allow you to land more than 4 hits on him(her) in a round (usually their defense are so good that almost everything will be countered). Basically you will get stomped and that's it.
@rig404. Exactly as well.
My post was in response to a post stating that lower ranks are limiting their options and therefore there are less players to compete against as ones rank increases. So my post was merely a means to encourage lower ranks to raise their options.
If you're a higher rank and don't want to fight against scrubs. Okay. Nobody is forcing you. Whining that scrubs should just get gud isn't helping to increase player numbers. Encourage a means for scrubs to get gud so you will have more of a challenge in the future. Everyone has to start somewhere after all.
So my post was not so much about higher ranks limiting themselves, but for lower ranks to be encouraged to raise their options, fight against higher ranks, and get gud.
...
I find it more fun as well. What fun is it to destroy someone several ranks down? When I'm playing someone lower it makes it more fun to challenge myself while still giving them a chance.
I agree with you. Like I said, I DO play against higher ranks. I was simply suggesting a means to encourage those who DON'T fight higher ranks to do so.
Higher rank vs lower rank.
Option A. Higher rank chooses best character. Destroys lower rank. Boring. Lower rank is now scared to play higher rank.
Option B. Higher rank chooses secondary character. Still beats lower rank but was more of a challenge. Fun. Lower rank is much less scared to play higher rank.
Imo, option B is more fun for both players. It was just a suggestion to encourage "scrubs" to raise their options and fight higher ranks. Thats all. No worries.
There is not any reason why a lower ranked player should be scared of playing a higher ranked one. He will either lose nothing or only a small amount of points which is almost neglectable considering the fact that he will achieve both experience and a big load of points if he's going for the match and able to win it.
Again, I agree. However, as the original post I replied to pointed out. There are still "scrubs" limiting their options and not fighting higher ranks, making less players for higher ranks to fight against.
I was simply trying to facilitate a means to encourage the "scrubs" who are limiting their options to raise their options and fight higher ranks.
