How to keep your steam controller from messing with DoA5 LR:
My friend urged me to post this for people who are experiencing the same problem as I did: When I had my steam controller set, it started to mess with the standart build in controller support for DoA and kept doubling all dpad inputs.

Here is what you have to do to have DoA not use your default Steam controller settings:
Right click onto the game DoA 5LR in your libary > edit steam controller settings > browse config > templates > select the one that sais for games that already have build in controller support.

Enjoy having full control over your movements back! :ws_goodluck:

I can't access the menu you're referring to. There's literally no listing for "edit steam controller settings" when I rightclick the game in my Library page. Do I need to have my Steam Controller plugged in for it to appear?

The easiest way to find out would be to simply plug in your controller? :Lisbeth:
But I assume the availiablity of the menu requires you to have gone through the setup process for Steam controller in general, idk if you did or not. This topic only applies when the Steam controller support messes with the native controller support of your game.

I didn't know in advance which of the most convenient alternatives would actually have been easier, as it so happens. There was Plan A - type in the thread I was already reading, or Plan B - literally dust off my Steam Controller and plug it in. Anyway, I'll give that a try. Tecmo voided my config a long while ago and this may be a workaround. It's still completely intact and even backed up in Steam's cloud, but I can't use it. Or anyone else's configs for that matter. I spent a long time playtesting that thing only to have some beaurocrat throw my work away without warning. Maybe it wasn't a total waste of time, and by dint of that, my Steam Controller might not have been a total waste of money.

Damn it... sorry to doublepost. All the buttons in the Steam cloud backup for my custom config were erased anyway. (edit: I didn't do the erasing - someoene else did that without my knowledge) I can't salvage the config from the most current file. Thanks for the effort, though. I know that config menu like the back of my head, it coincidentally so happens. It's just that I've never used this series of steps to access it. Usually I push the center button while in a game and browse until the menu for customising the controls shows up, highlight it, then press A.

I think there has been a misunderstanding here: You are talking about the original steam controller (hardware) while I am talking about the steam controller overlay (into steam integrated software).

You can edit an old post by pressing the pen symbol. :perfectlove:

I can tell why your config disappeared. I would wager it was because of a Steam update if you set that up so very long ago. I think I had to reconfigure my controller twice within a year. However, since you can't seem to load any templates and the configuration menu does not appear for you, I assume you did not set up your general steam controller profile. But it's just a random guess.

Actually I said that the configuration menu does appear for me. It didn't at first, but I did end up dusting off the old Steam Controller and trying it that way, and for some reason it worked. That's why I described the alternative method I'd been using all this time. And if you've got both DOA 5 and a Steam Controller, go ahead and call my bluff. The config is named "Orbit's Edge" and has over 300 hours of playtime logged. You can even see how the keys are blank now.
