Boss splash screens don't show up

I'm playing Enter the Gungeon on my Steam Deck. I'm unsure how to get a crash log on it, so I apologize for not including one. Whenever I enter a boss room, the boss's opening animation will play, but then where you're supposed to see the boss's splash screen, I instead get two seconds of a black screen, then the game will come back and I'll be immediately thrown into the boss fight.

So for example, if I entered Gatling Gull's boss room, he'll fly into the room, pick up the gatling gun, flex so all his feathers come off like normal. Then suddenly the screen will go black, then the game immediately goes into the boss fight like normal.

It looks like this is a fairly common occurrence going back 7 years at least: https://steamcommunity.com/app/311690/discussions/1/1762481957318048576/, and has happened on not just Steam Deck but also Macs.
