Black border on all 4 sides of screen at every resolution - 13" MacBook Pro
I use the scaler option which preserves the pixel ratio. I understand the aspect ratio is different than my display's, but the image should have borders on the sides, OR the top and bottom, not both. A fix for this would be greatly appreciated.

FYI, for some reason changing resolutions using the "preserve pixel ratio" scaler does not change the amount of the display being used to render the game. Black borders on all 4 sides unless I use the ugly stretch scaler.

Unfortunately, this is working as intended. Our game's "native resolution" is 480 x 270 (that's the number of "big pixels" there are visible in our game view). We chose this because it gave us the field of view we wanted at the scale we wanted, and scaled evenly into 1080p screens (each art pixel is made of 4x4 screen pixels). At some resolutions though (such as 1680x1050 or 2560 x 1600), there is no even multiple of pixels that will fill the screen at Pixel Perfect mode, which is why we offer the scaled mode. We've been pretty happy with the result with screens that are larger than 1080 (1440 scaled looks very nice IMO), but we still think of Pixel Perfect as the "correct" way to play... feel free to use either!

The third option, allowing pixel perfect scaling for the screen AND fill the black areas with game, unfortunately has some gameplay implications. We did not solve these by launch, but if this is a common complaint, we may spend more time addressing these and working in support for a mode like that.

I'm sure many people would use that third option, as many have powerful enough machines with slightly odd size displays.
