TobiWho, what controller are you using? For both of you, what platform are you on? (PC/Mac/Linux)

Same problem here, PC Windows 8.1, using a generic Leadership Gamer controller via USB. Also tried with another Playstation controller, and got same problem.
Only the left analog stick and the directional arrows work.

Hey, had the same problem here with my xbox360 controller and Ps2 with usb ports. Solved the problem with x360 emulator and followed this guide:

I hope it works for you too !

I'm still having controller issues with this game and i have since I bought it at launch. The game constantly stops recognizing half of the controller buttons in the middle of a run. It is very frustrating to say the least.

Windows 8.1 Usb 360 controller.

We've been trying to fix the controller input dropping, but we've been unable to reproduce it so it's very hard for us to test. It seems like the issue stems from a single controller reporting as two controllers to the game, and we're trying to switch to the "active" controller which results in constant switching back and forth causing dropped inputs. Does your controller have a switch or button on it to switch between DirectInput and XInput modes? If so, try the other setting. If you're using some kind of input mapper to emulate a 360 controller, try disabling it... Gungeon should read the vast majority of controllers without any mapping required.

I am able to switch between xinput and directInput... still the same problem with both presets

So I'm having the same problem - using an old PS1 controller and PS to USB converter (used to use this for a DDR pad). It registers the stick movement just fine, but own't register any button presses from the controller. I'm using Windows 10, tried using default driver and using XboxCE. Gungeon always sees it as an "unknown controller" (even when XboxCE should be emulating a 360 controller), but no matter what bindings I choose (or if I am trying to do custom bindings) it doesn't register button presses.

This controller works in Steam 'big picture' mode, and for other things, so it's not the buttons.

I am not using any controller mapping, and my controller doesn't have a switch. I have checked and double checked that my drivers are up to date. No matter what I constantly have controller issues. It's upsetting because this game was something I was very excited for.

Hey there, I'm having the same problem. I'm using an USB Xbox 360 controller, (all drivers up to date) and the game is having trouble registering button presses. It registers stick movements okay, and will SOMETIMES register button presses, but stops after a while and it's getting super annoying, since I'm craving this game :( Really hope you guys can find a fix for it soon

I did get another controller to work usince XboxCE - a third party XBox USb controller. It didn't register at all in Enter the Gungeon (couldn't even select 'controller' as a control option) until I used XboxCE - following the linked guide above.

Once set up that controller worked perfectly - the PS1 controller still doesn't, even following the same procedure.

Try this: http://steamcommunity.com/app/311690/discussions/0/364040961440065426/

This guy might've figured around how to get around the weird dropping. If it works, props to him. If it doesn't, oh well.
