Steam Deck blank screen during boss title card

I own EtG both on Steam and Nintendo Switch. I played on Switch first, but haven't made a lot of progress there. However, I played enough to see some bosses and know that when you enter the room, there's a full-screen card with cute art and their name. On my Steam Deck, I don't see these screens; instead there is only a black screen before returning to the game. Does anyone know how to fix this? It's not a game-breaker but I like seeing the art!

My video settings:

• Resolution: 960 x 540
  
• Scaling Mode: Pixel Perfect
  
• Screen Mode: Fullscreen
  
• V-Sync: On

Update: switching to Windowed had an effect: Gatling Gull just froze the game screen instead of showing the boss card, but Ammoconda displayed correctly.

Same here. Have yet to try windowed mode. OS version 3.3.1.
