Controller freeze

[Flaw]

I just bought this game and I only did a couple of quick runs but since the beginning of the tutorial my controller sometimes freezes for no specific reason. I tried to remove it and reconnect it but it kept having issues. I tryed to restart my PC and also tested my controller with different games but it seems it is fine, so I'm guessing it's a game problem.
It seems during the runs it is more stable, but in the menus it's quite difficult to make it work properly.
EDIT: I'd like to specify that my controller is a similar X box controller, I don't really know from which generation and I use it wired, not bluetooth.

I have this issue too, over 2 PCs and multiple controllers. It's really frustrating and am kind of annoyed there are no fixes or even replies. It is brief, but frequent; every other room or so, and runs my ability to play... the game just stops accepting input from the controller for several seconds.

I had this same issue and solved it by setting the controller mode to "XInput Only" based on this old GOG post by the dev https://www.gog.com/forum/enter_the_gungeon/xinput_gamepad_responds_very_slow_when_buttons_are_pushed/post4

Now I only lose because i suck at it lol

That seemed to help fix my Xbox One controller input being weird, thanks!

Now I can use the map without it closing, and walk around with my character stopping for a second to absorb some bullets 😁
