secret wall questions.
It's exhausting shooting all walls trying to find secret rooms, I remember reading somewhere that secret room wall look slightly different but that does not seem to be the case.

At least where do secret rooms never spawn?

Here is a list of rooms I am pretty sure will never have a secret room attached to them. Please tell me if I am right or anyone can tell me they have had a secret room attach to any of these. So I can know for sure to never bother checking them.

Entrance room of any floor.
Boss room.
Hallways.
First floor fireplace room.
Room putting out fireplace unlocks.
Secret rooms (like has anyone had a secret room attached to a secret room)
Room right before boss room.
Other special rooms, shrines. Merchant rooms other than the main merchant, the special heirloom shield in the secret garbage level etc.
Seems to need to be a big enough no regular room gap for there to be a secret room, pretty sizable even if the secret room isn't that big.
Any wall segment with breakable stuff in front of it. (but could be on that same wall where there isn't breakable stuff)
Generally nonbreakable wall decoration like paintings, or torches etc (I know torches can be put out) stuff on the walls instead of on the floor in front of the walls that you can't break by walking over.

I think book shelves are never secret room openings but wooden wall between bookshelves definitely can be secret room openings

Corners of chest rooms never secret room openings and always in the middle of sides?

It's frustrating also not knowing how much ammo you have to waste to reveal secret rooms

I addition to these, I've also gotten secret rooms inside the Oubliette entrance room on floor 1 multiple times.

Personal advice: Don't bother shooting every wall in every room. Waste of time and ammo. Just try shooting the chest rooms, as they're both small and pretty common places for secret rooms to spawn. Beyond that, just teleport to random rooms and use up all your remaining blanks after clearing each floor. Special rooms (such as shrines, merchants, the elevator down room) have a higher chance of getting secret rooms, so try those ones first.

Is it almost always one secret room per floor? How frequently have you gotten zero or multiple?

I don't know how many shots are necessary to make the crack, any help with that? (I know it varies per gun damage)

No ones had a secret room attached to a hallway?

There can be floors with none. There can also be floors with two, and a couple times I’ve even gotten three secret rooms on the same floor.

As for frequency, hard to say. I’ve played this game A LOT over the past few years, and I’m sure there’ve been times there was a secret room that I didn’t even find.

Secret entrances have health in a sense, so the amount of shoots it takes to reveal the cracks is based on damage dealt. Weaker guns will take more shots.

I know that, but I don't have a good idea how much damage is enough to reveal a wall. What enemy do walls have a similar HP compared to? Does wall HP vary?

No idea. Even the weakest guns shouldn’t take more than five or six bullets though.

I check the chest rooms, and if it's not there, I use a blank in the shop and the postboss elevator room. Works most of the time.

You don't have to waste your blanks like that. You can just try to run through walls. If your caracter is still running, it means there's a hidden room.

Works like a charm and prevent you from using a blank when you don't have much or want to save them.

Yeah but also I don't need them. I'm doing Cursed Rat runs as my standard difficulty and getting all 5 Master Rounds at this point.

Blanks refill each floor. It’s not wasting them anyway.

Wasting is actually spending a blank for nothing as one can simply test wall before using blank. That's what I was saying. And knowing you can spare some blanks for others levels is actually helpful to beginners so...

IDK man, I think running into every single wall of a run sounds hella boring and far more wasteful of my time than throwing random Blanks before leaving a floor, since the Blanks come back next floor anyway.

Usually i just check chest room, elevator, merchant and such. Walking into every wall will be way tedious. X_X

I like to spare blank and use them when I really have found a secret room. Given that the blank only comes back for two if you have none at the end of the floor. Only if you have two blanks.

Just prevent throwing them to the void hoping that it will lead to a secret room.

Once again, for an advanced player, using blanks is skippable with the skills build. But for beginners ...

Yeah but using a blank is just pressing q. It's much, MUCH faster than running into all the walls. Not about to spend 10 minutes a run checking for secret rooms.

Also, again, not gonna use em anyway. Blanks refill to your maximum each floor whether you use them or not. So you're not wasting anything.

I notice that you are France, so maybe it’s a lost-in-translation issue, but I’m still not understanding how you are wasting Blanks when they refill at the start of each floor. You spend them and maybe get a secret room, then go to the next floor and have two again, or you don’t spend them and go to the next floor and… still have two. What’s the difference?
