That being said a few general tips:
- Dodge roll. It's SO important, do it.
- Blanks. Use them, they are a resource and you should not be afraid of using them.
- Keep on shooting. Especially with your starter, not every shot needs to hit.
- And probably most important: Learn boss patterns.
Dodgeroll, but do not rely on it. You should treat it as a "get out of damage" card, not as your primary means of evasion. There are plenty of attacks you MUST roll, yes, but for ones you don't have to, try to dodge without, and if you can't get out of the way, THEN you roll.
Roll INTO attacks. Not out of. You're only invincible early on in the roll, so diving towards the attack, will avoid better than trying to dive with the attack. This is most obvious on consistant beams.
- Learn their patterns
- Kill the mob that they spawn ASAP
- Focus on 1 and then go for the other ( i usually leave the glasses guy as the last one, he seems weaker when he rages)
- They're 2 enemies so your positioning needs to be good, try to keep them in the same direction compared to you, if you're stuck between them it's gonna be hard dodging their bullets
Gatling Gull:
-He's the easiest one
-Roll over his waves of bullets when he does that attack, it's usually 2 waves
- Watch that red ball that he shoots since it will explode into many bullets
- Keep your distance when he uses his gatling gun, if you run close to him while he does that attack you're almost guaranteed to get hit since the bullet pattern goes crazy when he turns
-Focus him when he shoots the missiles
Bullet King:
You just have to learn his patterns, they're all very dodgeable once you know them. The only crazy attack is the orb that he shoots which then explodes in a lot of bullets, he tends to combo it with another attack so dodging can be hard, you may want to save your blanks for this.
Boi, always die from him
Bullet king easiest tbh
- Roll, but don't like roll needlessly. In most rooms you can just sidestep out of the way. I always panic-rolled and ended up in a worse situation than I started in.
- When you do roll, roll towards the bullet. I often found myself rolling sideways into more bullets or simply rolling backwards only to get hit by the bullet I was trying to avoid.
- Make sure you've secured the floor's items. I'm not sure how many there can be or if this is a set number but I seem to find two treasure rooms on the first floor. If you find a good gun it makes it a LOT easier.
- If you're going to take damage use your blanks. I always tried to save mine for "just the right moment" and ended up not using them.
- Oh, and I would recommend buying health from the shop if you're going into the boss fight with more than one heart missing. Just to be safe.
Also class specific tip: the hunter's crossbow one hits the weaker enemies, two hits the medium sized ones. It's actually super powerful on the first floor. I just abuse it like hell.
As for the game itself, it's definitely a lot more skill oriented than it is luck, so having a firm idea on bullet-hell strats will make this game easier for you (yes, they are similar). At the end of the day, like bullet-hell games, it's trial and error more than anything. Once you've learned how an enemy or boss functions, you can win with minimal damage done on to you.
Do not be discouraged if you lose on the first floor; feel free to choose the Marine character if you want an easy-going early game experience rather than someone like the Convict or Pilot (if you're choosing those characters in the first place).
