5th Floor Elevator Unlock
I'm on the last elevator unlock. I'm not great at games, and unlocking it this far has stretched my skills more or less to their limit.

So: Bring the guy six heart containers, according to both him and the wiki.

I figure that I probably can't do it. That will mean flawlessing 3 bosses, or at least 2 and getting an extra heart container from an item.

And then: It happens.

I hit the fourth floor boss - and I am not good at any of the fourth floor bosses - and pray to simply stay alive.

I do. I kill the wall with half a heart left. You cannot imagine how relieved and thrilled I am to have done this. This feels - no, this IS - the most difficult thing I've ever done in a game. The run has gone for nearly an hour now.

I get to the fifth floor and fall down the shaft to show the guy my six heart containers.

He implies that they need to be six FULL heart containers.

...

...

...

I minimize the game, open the wiki page, calmly edit it, re-enter the game, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kill myself.

That's it for me, friends!

Yeah I had that happen the first time too. I had almost the same response lol.

Believe me though, when you do get six, it's worth.

I know you probably hate me right now, but I believe in you!

Unlocking the final shortcut might just be the hardest thing to do in the game, but you can do it!

I've got 2 Pasts killed and a Robot unlocked and I still only just have the Floor 2 shortcut unlocked.
Sometimes I wish I could turn in the keys & money separately since I can't seem to get both simultaneously when I need 'em.
The heart container thing at least gives me a proper heads-up.

How did you guys manage the first elevator unlock? I'm having a heck of a time making sure I have enough keys and cash.

Not spending too much or at all and going to Oubliette (and maybe the Abbey) can help.

I got it pre-key buff.

Kept my key, got a few extra from the Hunter dog, and didn't buy anything. Fully cleared both floors and barely had enough shells.

Oubliette is good for shells, but honestly it's a horrendous gamble when it comes to keys. If you got 2 on the first floor, it might be wise to just hope you have enough shells when the time comes.

I was lucky enough to get a gold shell worth 50 on floor 1. Luck helps a lot.

*sigh* y did ya have to go and say that? I haven't beaten the game yet either like the OP[playing for about 2 wks now] but rather have made the shortcuts top priority once they become available (like scooby and his snacks I feel the need to have the elevator fixed once i get to the next floor).

Grinded out the elevator 4 shortcut yesterday and once i saw what was needed for floor 5 - was like maybe i should stop at 4 and just focus on beating the game and getting the bullet to start killing the past from now on....

Then, i come in here to check on the 6 heart thing to see if they need to be full (but of course they do) and see that post about the elevator 5 repair being the hardest challenge in the game. G*d damnit, masochists like myself take that stuff srsly... now i think i'm going to try to grind it out today to see if i can make any progress, starting w/ getting 6 full heart containers by floor 5 - which i just made it to for the 1st time yesterday and did i mention i suck at the lv 4 bosses atm? Time to have some fun! *Y do i do this to my self* <shakes head>

You will get it eventually. Keep in mind that something like the tangerine could be a savior for you, seeing as it refills all health and gives you another heart container.

Indeed I did, but I will tell you something interesting: Nightmare called it. Finally getting the Orange was exactly how I did it.

Here is something I've learned: You get good at this game, but you never really get good enough. Most of the things you accomplish will be because you had an insanely lucky run.

So long as you're OK with that, keep going.

Why did you two necro this old thread? It is fairly evident by now that OP has long accomplished finally unlocking the last elevator. There is no point in starting this discussion again.

re: your pts....

1. it was relevant to my current situation and was one of the first threads that popped up when searching the topic

2. Reading only this thread gives you no clue OP had already completed the challenge (until his/her recent post ofc)

3. refer to #1 and also, if you didn't want to be involved in the discussion[of which you weren't the 1st go round] there was no need for you to post in the thread

Achievements, Comegetsome. Probably checked the person's profile.

Calling out a necro is fair game.
