Brick of cash - Secret door revealed but can't open it? Bug or design?
Hello

I just got the brick of cash for the first time and rejoiced that it shows you where the secret doors are, indicated by a little grey brick man pointing at the area of the wall where there is a secret, when there is one to point at.

I therefore whilst on Floor 1, revealed one secret room with no trouble (a room with brick walls), shooting it with a gun that wasn't your starting weapon to reveal the crack then firing a blank. Awesome!

However the next little grey brick man I came across was in a library room with wooden walls and he was pointing at an area which I just couldn't reveal. Doing the same shoot then use blank technique.. nothing happened.

So..

Do the brick men sometimes tell lies?
Do you use a different technique to break through wooden walls?
Is this a bug?
Or is this something else?

Thanks!

No lies. Different Technique.

It was probably the secret room that leads to the special level, you can't open it with blanks

Interesting, so with both your comments in mind, is it a different technique for all wooden walls, versus brick walls?

Or are we thinking it is the secret level and that was the issue?

It's the secret level.

Imho it was the secret level, i've found many secret rooms that i could not open on the first floor (if you don't know it, if you shoot a wall and there's a secret room there, the bullets' explosion is different) and they all ended up being the way for the secret level.

Regular secret rooms next to wooden rooms are opened the same way brick ones are. In your case it wasn't a regular secret room, which is why you couldn't open it that way. Floor 1 has a special secret room that has to be opened in a particular way. Floor 2 as well, but I'm not sure if that one is revealed by the item.

OK cool, thanks for clearing that up :)

And thanks everyone else for your input!

Now to try and figure out this secret technique......... (no idea where to even start)

All I know is that if *feels* like there is something going on with that room on Floor 1 with the painting of the dude over the fireplace. I think we need to do something there... but... I don't know what. Could be wrong though and the game is making me suspcious :D

Without spoiling anything I'll tell you you are on the right path.

Hah, thanks for the tip... I thought there was something with that room. I have tried a lot of things and tried to notice a pattern but.. no luck.

Can I ask? I am not after the solution, but I would be interested in your technique for figuring this stuff out. I have always been rubbish at finding secrets in games hehe, but when it comes to EtG I enjoy trying to work it out... but... I don't think I even have the technique down.

I am thinking it is all about attention to detail, noticing something is different or has changed, but as you can see from my original post, when I am presented with a sign post or clue to a potential secret I don't think of that really.

So do you have any tips? With a wordsearch it is good to find the first letter of the word you;re trying to find and on a dot to dot obviously finding the dot with the number 1 next to it is what you need to do. I am just after some tips on how to find secrets.

Like I say, not the answer but why is it you and others find this stuff and I don't? :) What are you (or anyone) doing differently?

Thanks!

There's one particular thing in that room that isn't present in any other room. You need to find a way past it. Perhaps some barrels can help. Some weapons can be useful too.

OK dokey, well you must be talking about the fireplace.. hmmm... maybe. I'll have a look again next time I go for a EtG run :)

There's probably something behind it, just gotta figure out a way to reach it. As a side note: once you do find out, you'll need 2 keys, so bare that in mind.

2 locks. If you're feeling lucky you can try and lockpick it in case you somehow only just have 1 key after clearing the entire floor.

This is all appreciated, but how did you guys find this out? Experimentation? 6th sense? Look it up on Google?

That is the key question, as there will be other secrets to discover :)

I tried with a particular gun and it worked, thought that depending on a specific type of weapon was too random and unreliable until I found out in these forums that there is a reliable way to open it every run.
