Are gold keys random?

It just happened for the second time, that i find a cage with an npc in it, but the level itself had no gold key (to my knowledge).

The boss will drop it, i haven't found any level that didn't have a golden key (if there was an NPC to rescue)

There's a 100% chance that a cell key is going to drop if there's a cell on the floor. If you don't get it from normal rooms the boss is going to drop it.

I don't know - they never seem to drop for me and I always see the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cell.

well, try out ever single room on the map, i can not remember that it was inside some secret room

not always the boss, sometimes a regular enemy will drop it

Yeah i meant in his case, since i guess he discovered the entire floor.

It can't be in a secret room, it's always dropped by either a regular Gundead, or the boss of the current floor!

Perhaps it has something to do with the altar room in chamber 2 - if you don't place the old crest on the altar, the key won't drop. Happened to me.

kill every enemy and boss, you WILL get the key eventually

you did not explore all the map did you if there is a cell the gundead will drop the key .

Im positive the golden key is stuck behind the pedestal after boss kill. The boss icon looks distorted so I think the key is in the room. I have a cell and NO key to be found. FML
