is being cursed even worth it?
it makes the game so much harder and the additional angel enemies are also not that "nice"
especially during boss fights

i would really like a change that cursed enemies do double damage but have "normal hp"
right now they are just ridiculous bullet sponges....

no. but that is the challenge, right? it's the only way to reach the hardest part of the game.

Being cursed it's a risk reward/thing because it always comes with picking certain weapons/items (very powerful sometimes) or using some shrines. But generally you want to have it in the low end (the curse level i mean). And if you get 5 curses (or were they 4?) along one run... something happens (won't spoil it for people who don't know)

What does being cursed even do? Does it spawn more black and red enemies? So far I can't tell the difference between being cursed or not, so I always go for it when it's helpful.

You talking about the ammo Satan shrines, or whatever they're called?

Yes, i think that that's the one who gives you a curse, but also picking some items gives you one more (you can tell by the purple skull that appears over your character's head when picking said items).

in one round, I rolled at a shrine... result? down to 0,5 life BUT full ammo... yay or so...

It increases the chance of facing "jammed" enemies (red ones), who deal more damage and soak up a lot more bullets. Bosses can be jammed aswell. There's another big thing that happens if your curse is really high (maybe max?). But that's the way to the most hardcore part of the game.

Being cursed spawns jammed enemies more and increases money drop rate. To get to the final secret level you need to beat all 4 pasts. Curse isn't required.

so yeah
after some testing :)
being slightly cursed is just AWESOME :)))

the amount of additional money is incredible :)

being fully cursed is basically instant death with the reaper...

depending on what you pick up that is cursed it can be really worth it

You might as well get a bit of curse. There will be Jammed enemies in the 5th floor and beyond so you can't avoid them. You need to be cursed at times to unlock certain things (like the unlock you get by using Lament Configurum).

Some items are not "worth it" though, like the huntsman and the fightsabre, which are cursed only because the gungeon hates non-bullet based weapons, not because they are too strong.

Being cursed doesn't just give you more money, it gives you more ammo drops too, so the bullet sponge bit is only an issue if you are getting bored or getting hit. You won't run out of ammo on them.

This might be the only time I have ever seen anyone say that the fightsabre is not one of the best guns in the game, much less not even worth the curse it gives. You can safely and easily kill bosses practically with just reloading with the fightsaber, and it has enough ammo (plus reload reflection to do damage without using ammo) that you'll never need another gun for the rest of the run unless you get insanely unlucky with ammo drops. (Huntsman isn't bad either for the reload safety.)

Anyway, I always try to get 1 curse for the demon head doors, but even beyond that I like a little curse because the occasional jammed enemy really doesn't bother me but the extra money they drop can definitely help. I definitely try to stay below 7 to avoid jammed bosses though, and rarely just decide to go above 2 or 3 off of cursed pots in order to keep my options open for stealing and cursed items later in the run.
