Pilot's lockpick can only be used once per floor?
Hey guys, I've got a weird thing going on and I'm wondering if it's intended, if it's a bug, or if I'm just missing something:

Earlier, I was playing as the Pilot and I found a locked gate that was blocking a chest, but I didn't have any keys, so I used the Pilot's lockpick to open the gate. It worked, but when I got to the chest, it wouldn't let me use the lockpick on it, and when I went to open the other chests I had found, it wouldn't let me use the lockpick on those, either.

I could have sworn that when I was playing just the other day, I was able to use the lockpick one time on every lock I found. Did something change, is this a bug, or am I just being incredibly dense and missing something obvious? Thanks!

The lockpick, like any other active item, has a cooldown. The lockpick has a relatively short cooldown, recharging in just a few enemy kills.

Aha, I had no idea that the cooldown was based on enemy kills! Turns out I was just being dense and missing something obvious after all. Thanks so much :D

Actually, it's based on hitting the enemy with your shots! However, the cooldown is so low that it'll probably only take one or two room clears of enemies. : ]

That really blows though because if you wait until the floor is clear to strategically pick chests based on chest type / shop inventory / available money you will have no enemies left to charge it up again.

So the lockpick is even weaker than I previously thought.

It's a risk/reward thing, but I understand the complaint. I suggest trying to pick brown chests, use s key for everything else. Or if you are really good with the default weapon, also use the lock pick on blue/green chests. And remember: If the pick fails, break the chest with your gun from a distance.
