The "Iron Maiden"
Hoo boy, this guy's a toughie. Anyone found a good way to deal with them yet? I get decked constantly.

I dodge through the wave of spikes to get in their face and unload with a strong close range weapon like the Sawn Off. I feel a lot safer next to them than skirting the edges of the level.

Hera help you if two of them are in the same room though, PH34R xD

Using walls to hide behind when their attacks turn to seek you out is usually the safest way to go, then pop out and take some shots while it opens up and it's attack pattern is easier to dodge.

The hard part is figuring out how to weave through the 3 waves of bullets while it's open, while still also putting fire into him. Once the bullets are out, wait a second til they start moving, then you should only have to make a single leap to avoid all of them.

They're not too bad once you get the hang of it. I still get hit more often from Globulon Cubes, simply because they often surprise me with their bullets off screen.

Alright cool, thanks guys! The game's a bit tricky to wrap my head around (it's very fast-paced compared to what I'm used to), but I'm slowly getting a hang of it. At least I'm having fun doing it.

its just reflex based and you never become OP like in isaac weapons just give you an edge

Keep practicing you'll get better but iron maiden is tough paying attention to your guy, dodging, and shooting back at the same time is a challenge but is really good practice

Git gud. And use the dodge roll.

Just try and kill them ASAP.

Dodge the bullets as they come out. Stay still once they stop. When they start flashing, Start moving again. They'll home in on the spot you were at just before they flash red. So running around before they flash can actually confuse you and make it more difficult. Lead Maiden IS a pretty tough enemy.

Yeah just stopping for the bullets to lock (or continually moving just making sure to leave yourself room for the final part so you can roll) works great.

My mind seems to be at odds at times though with this because of snipers. I'm used to games with the flashing meaning they are locked and staying where in this one the snipers will still turn after the flash to target you.

Has got me hit more than a couple times as my brain says "It's fine now to stop and shoot" but it isn't!

Killing an Iron maiden without getting hit is harder on average than killing the Cannonbolrog without getting hit, it really is unreasonable in comparison to any other enemy in the game. I've beaten the game a number of times and the maiden stands alone as a massive ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that does too much at once. If you aren't in a perfect room with just the maiden, then expect to burn a blank or take a hit. The amount of things it forces you to do is insane for a singular enemy.

When the iron maiden shoots out its three waves of spikes, they shift counterclockwise slightly, so you want to position yourself inbetween two of them and just move a little with them while shooting the enemy. Depending on what weapon you have, you can put it down in one cycle and then just dodge roll as all the spikes try to amass at the center of the room.

Newbie tip: Ice weapons will freeze it closed, don't use them... learned that the hard way trying to Snowballer it open so I could unload on it with the shotgun or starter pistol.

If you have the Lil' Bomber or a charged weapon, it only takes 3-4 shots to kill one. Otherwise, I just circle-strafe around them with the starter pistol, like most enemies.

This, and try to spray it down. When it starts shooting, look for cover and hope for the best, is what I usually do lol.
